Question about Whirlpool LEN2000PW Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer isn't drying

I made the mistake of drying two throw blankets that basically fell apart in the dryer. Ever since then the dryer doesn't dry stuff. I don't know iff all the fluff from the blankets clogged something or where to really start. I have cleaned out the inside of the dryer and the lint trap but it still isn't working.

Do you have any suggestions?

Your dryer has some internal ductwork that can get clogged and prevent the dryer from operating efficiently. In most dryers it takes quite a bit of disassembly to get to the internal ductwork. Take out the lint filter and look into the opening with a flashlight. Clean out as much as possible with a vacuum cleaner. Also check the venting to the outside. Make sure that the vent is not clogged up and that the flap on the exhaust vent on the side of the house is not stuck closed or partially closed. I will assume that the heating element is working and that the dryer is heating up. If not, that would indicate another issue. Sure hope this helped ya and best wishes.

Hi i have samsung dryer it work fine but it doesn't dry sheets and blanket verry well??

This can be because blankets and sheets tend to absorb more water and do not dry well in a spin dryer. Check that your spin cycle on the washer is putting out enough spin to centripetal dry your blankets and sheets.

Barrel isn't turning.

I believe you will find the belt is broken.
There is a motor which is supposed to turn a belt, which in turn drives the drum.
If you wish to repair ir yourself, a letter to "Fixya" could cause someone to walk you through the steps.
Be blessed.

Does Not Shut Off

1st go the the house breaker (dbl breaker) for the dryer and shut it off and turn it back on, your dryer runs on 220 volts of power but if the breaker is partially tripped it may be only running on 110 volts which is only enough power to turn the lights on and to turn the drum the element needs 220 volts to turn on. If it still doesn't heat after resetting the breaker then you may need a heating element or thermostat. The dryer isn't shutting off because it isn't detecting the clothes are getting dry so once you fix your heating problem the dryer should start shutting off on its own again.

DRYER ISN'T DRYING PROPERLY. TAKES MULTIPLE CYCLES TO DRY

Long dry times are usually always caused by poor air flow. Check the venting all the way from back of dryer all the way to where it goes outdoors, also for lint build up in tube where vent connects to on back of the dryer

Maytag dryer not drying clothes properly

Have you tried cleaning off the sensor? Many of the newer dryers have a sensor that, when dirty, can no longer determine the moisture level of the clothes. Some manufacturers recommend using a light vinegar solution. Check your owners manual for location and recommended cleanier. Also, make sure your exhaust hose is clear of obstructions and that you vacuum out your lint trap area. HTH.

Wet towels & blankets stacked on working dryer

This won't affect drying time unless the load is so heavy it causes the cabinet to warp and disturb the door seal. If you haven't had any problem with this so far you can probably keep doing it. (The machine is designed to support the weight of a wet load in the drum, and should have some safety margin. But why not invest in a roll-around laundry cart like you find at laundromats and keep the wet load there until the dryer is clear?) You might need to be more concerned about rust starting on the top of the cabinet if the enamel is scratched, since it's not usually subjected to wet loads being piled there. You should also check your vent pipe frequently to make sure it stays clear with all the drying you do. Clogged lint screens and vent pipes will definitely lengthen drying time.

Sheets wind together in a damp ball

I have a different model Bosch dryer, but I have the same problem.

I've found that the flat sheets dry okay if you have them in with other things (like pillowcases and t-shirts). I learned long ago though that you can't put those things in with deep fitted sheets; the little stuff winds up caught in the corners in damp wrinkly wads.

So I dry the fitted sheet separately, and throw in a couple of clean tennis balls. They're noisy, but harmless, and they keep the sheet from balling up.
