Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 8

1 Answer

My IE8 does no longer load parts of pages (flash/java)

My IE8 does not load some parts of webpages anylonger. With Opera everything works fine, but in IE8 whenever a flash or a java part appears that part stays blank. I can not even access windowsupdate.com that page stays completly blank. On adobe.com the flash part does not appear. Trying to install flash again (it used to work, so that is not the problem) the information bar on the top (where you have to confirm to install the ActiveX Control) does not appear. It used to work fine, but after a sytem crash and a system recovery this problem appeared. I heard from someone that it might have something to do with XML. That is the part that is missing in the loaded webpages.
The settings have not changed and even reinstalling SP2 and IE8 did not help.
I appreciate good ideas! I checked the web for two days, but did not find a solution.

Thanks Ryan, but I did try that without success. My settings are fine. No matter what setting I chose my browser did not load the content when an Activex component was embedded. It is an ActiveX problem. I even found an offline installation for Adobe flash, but nevertheless my browser did not really care about using it. I had to reinstall/reregister ActiveX. I am not quite sure how that works the easiest way, but I followed some suggestions on an IE help page by Microsoft and it works again. http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Foru...
Suggestion 4 on that page worked for me and after registering some of those dlls my brower is up and running again.

I would lower my IE settings as far down as possible. I would also go to Internet Options/click on Settings located under Browsing History/click on the View Objects button and delete any corrupted or none working versions of flash and java. Then I would go to adobe.com and java.com to install new version of flash and java.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

IE8 unresponsive on facebook

Go to tools then "compatibility view". If you wish to add it to the list so that it always renders Facebook this way click compatibility view settings. Facebook is a progressive company and they have been phasing out support for older browsers. I assume you are on XP otherwise you would be up to IE9+. My suggestion would be to possibly move to Chrome, Firefox or Opera which do not have an operating system limitation.

I was able to use facebook before but not been able to use it for the last 3 days.....there was some problem with my google chrome so i downloaded mozilla & IE8...nothing worked but.....everything else...

Hmh weird. Well first off I recommend downloading CCleaner, once it's installed, close your browsers and press the "clean" button. This will clear your cache and cookies and chances are that this will help.
I have seen a few other people on this site being unable to access facebook, however google tells me that there isn't some major problem anywhere and it also works fine for me so I think it's safe to say that it's somehow related to your computer.

I hope I was able to help. If I was please don't forget to rate my solution.

Hi,
You can try reseting the browser, click on tools, select internet options, click the advance tab, click reset. You can also try uninstalling and try to reinstall your internet explorer.

Hope this one helps. Thanx

IE8 will load up when you start to navagate to another page error pops up that it needs to close. another program has caused the problem.

If you like IE8 that's fine but I would try another browser like Firefox, Safari, Opera, or Google chrome, all are very good browsers and in my opinion far better than IE8.

IE8 tries to load webpage and then gets

this problem can occur if the ie8 is not kept up to date. install the newest security updates for ie8 from the site
update.microsoft.com
if this doesnot solve the problem it will be better to reinstall ie8 and then try the update. or else it will be more safer and secure to use mozilla firefox. in all the above cases the important thing is stay up to date.

I have tried to play videos on internet web sights and my computer won't play them. What could be the problem.

the most likely is that you dont have adobe flash player. another is that your connection may be too slow, broadband is required, basically. another is that you may not be allowed on video sites, ask your network administrator.
