Re: bowl spiner

If the machine you are complaining of is F&P smartdrive the bowl floats up off the splined shaft to agiatateand drops down to spin. With this fault check the bowl moves up and down shaft if it doesn't do so 1remove agiatator by undoing wing nut down inside agiatator and lifting out whole thing swrewed to the bottom of inner bowl you see greenish coloured cover holding the sline drive undo screws and lift off check and see if there is debris in the splines or 2 remove the scews holding the top deck down remove bib ring and check that nothing (eg sock washcloth or similar )has got stuck between inner and outer bowls. If fault code lights are coming up inform me what they are so I may be able to suggest other cause

Mw511, continuous beep, lights 3,4,5 from the left are lit up, water drained but no spinning, help!!

Try this: Turn power just to ON
Lift the lid an using both hands move the whole bowl clockwise at least on complete turn, then try it

Otherwise if lights 3,4,5 are on where 0=Light off and 1=Light on, the following data is copied from the repair manual.

(00111000) Phase 4 to 6 - Bowl Check No Valid Fault
While carrying out a bowl check, the machine has not been able to determine a valid bowl status and so the Display flags this fault.

Primary Source: Loading.
Action: Remove items until the remaining ones can move freely,
or rearrange the load so that the clothes are evenly
distributed around the bowl, or select a higher water level.
If the load was to one side of the bowl or too heavy it can
be possible for the agitator to bind in one direction when
trying to sense bowl float.

Secondary Source: Mechanical.
Action: 1. Check the machine is not syphoning.
2. Check that there are no clothes or other foreign objects
preventing the clutch from re-engaging, and that there
aren't any defects with the clutch mechanism.
3. Undo the display panel (2 screws the the back)
Next check that the clear pressure tube has not come off and
that it is not kinked.

Tertiary Source: Rotor Position Sensor.
Action: Replace the Rotor Position Sensor.

Quaternary Source: Motor Control Module.
Action: Replace the Motor Control Module.

I made the stupid mistake of leaving a small pair of nail scissors in my bathrobe before washing it in my WD860 Hotpoint. The scissors must have fallen between the rubber and steel drums as when it...

yes, just remouve the center part of the spiner, is a cap at the top, that is the spiner holder, onscrew it and lift it, then look under at the center.

I overloaded my washing machine!!

Hi Tracy, welcome to Fix ya.
I believe know exactly what happened here- one or more of your tub support rods has broken and that caused the tub to drop down. Those are actually pretty easy to change yourself! Lift the lid, look for two plastic caps, one on each side, that cover the screws the secure the washer top to the cabinet. Pop the caps off, take out the screws. Now the whole top can be opened up (it's on a hinge of sorts) and now you can see the main basket/tub assembly. The rods fit in a recess on the tub at the bottom and on the top of the rods, the triangular plastic sits in each corner of the machine. There are no tools needed, these rods come off very easily.
You can get a set here: (They are sold in sets of 4 and should be replaced as a set)

I hope this info is useful to you.
