Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have had my projector for abourt 2 years and the projector indicated that the bulb life was almost up and had to be replaced. I bought the new bulb and installed it with no problem. when I turned on the projector the bulb did not turn on and the Lamp LED and the Temp LED flash on and off constantly. I've unpluged the projector and repluged without any change. Although the lamp light does not turn on, I placed a dvd in the player and the DVD does'nt rotate. So the problem is not the Bulb. I dont see any fuse on the Projector. Could there be some way to reset the projector?

The make and model of my projector is: Optoma Movietime DV10 Multimedia Projector.

  • handycap3 Jul 23, 2009

I do not see a restore button on the projector. The LED's for Temp. and Lamp are both flashing at the same time at about one second intervals.

I changed the bulb back to the one that was origanally installed and the projecter sill won't turn on. I suspect that the problem may be some kind of fuse that is blown.

Please ADD the make and model of your projector on the comment page.

Without the model information,I can only give you few location to check on.

Check for an air filter or air clear.

Some unit has the smart to sense for filter change. In general you must do both at the same time.
(once again this is general info. Without the model #,I only can tell you to look for the filter)

The next item is check for safety switch/latch for open. The project has built-in safety.
Make sure all door/latch are close securely.

Do a quick cleaning and check for loose parts.

Please ADD the model number under comment page.

I will follow up later.

Can you do board level component troubleshooting?

Can you identify the thermo fuse and temperature sensor?

Did you do a quick cleaning and check for loose parts?

or fragment of part(s) inside the unit?

Are you able to do a clean up and check for loose part(s) inside the unit?

The instruction I gave you is a keypad movement on the remove......since the bulb does not light up so you can not see the image and make the correct movement to reset.

Please do a quick clean up and look for broken part(s).

    You can add comment later.

I will follow up on it.

When its turned on blinks red about every 2 seconds dark screen

It is probably the projector bulb. The two red blinking lights indicate bulb failure. Replace the bulb and also thoroughly clean the cooling fan and vents to prevent future overheating which can shorten bulb life.
Hope this helps.

Dell dlp front projector model 2400mp parts

The bulbs are very costly and they have a short life as is. Stop replacing and get a new unit. The repair is not worth the cost and a new unit has a warranty for at least a year.

Reset the lamp timer.
1,Connect the power cord.
2,While simultaneously holding down "menu","enter" and "down" on the projector, press "standby/On" on the projector and keep all four buttons pressed down until the lamp indicator starts blinking green.

My projector's power light is red, but when I click power it won't turn to green (on)

The likeliest problem here may be a burned out or failed projector bulb. Most projectors will fail to power up at all when if the bulb is out. The HD20 user manual does not specify a red light as an error indication option however, generally amber.
User manual .pdf is located here (takes a bit to download for it's size), Projector Status Indicator instructions are located on page 40.
Here on the product page itself, an email to Optima support may be warranted given the red instead of amber error light.
If you had any messages recently indicating your bulb life was nearing it's end, again, this would be my first guess. Certain models of projectors do have a tendency of blowing through bulbs even before any warning message comes up. I had an experience with a certain brand/model that for the last 3 replacements has given only about 1/4 of the stated bulb life, so unfortunately it does happen.

Our projector indicates that the light bulb needs to be replaced after replacing the light bulb once it still indicates that it needs to be replaced.

This is the excerpt from the manual on how to reset the lamp life timer.

Turn on the projector and use "Lamp Reset" after the lamp module is replaced.
Lamp Reset: (i) Press "Menu" ?§ (ii) Select "Options" ?§ (iii) Select "Lamp settings" ?§ (iv) Select "Lamp Reset ?§ (v) Select "Yes".

Exploding Bulb

remove the top of the projector (remove the 6 screws on the bottom and the top 2 screws on the back), use canned air, and blow every piece of dust out of every nook and cranny. also, don't get cheap lamps from "bob's house o' lamps". get the AN-XR10XLP/1 from a sharp dealer to get the full life out of a lamp. also, make sure the vents on the projector are not blocked when you use it.

Projector turns on but no light or image from lens.

The bulbs do not always look broken when dead. You say it is used often. The life of a bulb is around 1400 hours I believe. This normally equates to a year or two depending on your usage levels. Did you notice your image getting dimmer in the months before it stopped working? This would be a good sign it was in need of replacement. Are the lights flashing very rapidly or blinking slowly? If they are flashing very rapidly this indicated the bulb will not fire and needs replacing.

Infocus IN72 powers up but no image, replaced the bulb but still no image...

Hi there

This is most probably a Ballast ( lamp's powersupply ) problem.

Make 100% sure that this unit is out of warranty because InFocus Projectors come out standard with a 2 year warranty.
