Question about Aiptek IS-DV2 Camcorder

1 Answer

My PC doesn't see the camera

Loaded & reloaded the DV TS driver from Aiptek web site. Get "device not detected" followed by display of DVTS player screen but no info is displayed. Using USB cable provided with cam. Tried Microsoft Media Player but nothing. Any suggestions ? Thanks

I don't hear the "ding" sound when I connect. In device manager, I do not see any ? yellow markers and I do not see anything listed that would indicate a camera. Possible clue here, when I connect the USB cable to the Aiptek DZP-V5T, the display on the camera goes blank like it is powered down - and I can't get the camera to power back up (display) until I unplug the USB cable.

    Thanks for your help here.

This is the Aiptek iCam Model DZO-V5T. That is also the ID for the driver I downloaded earlier today.

I'll give the other computer a try tonight - back at this tomorrow.... afternoon.

OK, the camera and USB cable work fine on my wife's computer. I suppose this mean's there is a problem with my Dell PC which doesn't see the camera. I will work on this problem this weekend. Let's call this one fixed and completed. Thank you very much for your help !

When you connect the cam to the computer, do you hear the ding sound as a new connection is made?
Also look into device manager and see if there are any ? yellow marks there or similiar.

Right click on my computer, which you will find from desktop or from start menu.
Select / click Manage.
On the left side of the management window you should see device manager
Select / click on device manager
Now on the right side, do you see any ? yellow marks, if you don't see any ? marks there, can you find your camera from the list?

it might be that the usb cable or the connector on the camcorder is broken, could you try in on another computer and see if it works?

also check the same things you did on your computer, also in device manager you can right click on any of the item and select "scan for hardware changes" it might come up.

Is the actual model of your camera aiptek IS-DV2? or which one is it? I'll can look into this problem more when I know the model.

How old is the camcorder? Depending on which mode the camcorder is set for USB connection - Disc or Camera

In the disc mode it should show up in your my computer, you can open my computer, disconnect the cable, then reconned it again and see if a new drive appears.

if its on the camera mode, a camera might appear in my computer where you should be able to view the picture feed from it

if the camcorder really complately turns off when the usb cable is connected, check the connectors the might be broken or twisted, not as they are ment to - shorting each other.

there should be somekind of a powerlight while its connected to a computer, but I'm not completely sure about that.

My Camcorder Is Not Detected By The IEEE Card.

1. CHECK CAMCORDER CONNECTIONS AND SETTINGS. 1. The DV Camcorder is turned on and connected by the power adapter (not battery) 2. The Camcorder is in Play Mode. 3. The IEEE 1394 cable is properly connected from you camcorder to the IEEE 1394 card. If you have checked these steps and the camcorder is still not detected, then the camcorder driver is most likely not loaded. 2. CHECK DEVICE MANAGER TO VERIFY THAT CAMCORDER DRIVER IS LOADED. 1. Go to Device Manager by clicking on Programs > Settings > Control Panel > System. (In Windows 2000 you have the additional steps of clicking on Hardware > Device Manager). 2. Under the device heading called Imaging Devices, you should see a device called "Samsung DV Camera or DV Camcorder". If you have an exclamation point "!" on this device, highlight the device by clicking on it and then click the Remove and Refresh buttons for Windows 98SE and ME. For Windows 2000, click on the uninstall icon, then click on the scan for new hardware icon. Even if the camcorder device does not have an exclamation point "!" on it, you can remove it and reload it. With Windows ME and Windows 2000, and Windows XP, the 1394 camcorder driver is built into the operating system by Microsoft and is already loaded on your system. With Windows 98SE the files are located on the 98SE CD in the Win98 folder. If the device is not listed, please check all of items in step #1 above. If it continues to be a problem, there may be a problem with the: 1. Camcorders firewire port 2. 1394 cable 3. The 1394 host controller card Samsung does not support Firewire Components. You must consult the manufacturer of your Firewire product(s).
