The water dispenser was dispensing small amounts of water, then all of a sudden it stopped dispensing water at all. I checked the filters to see if they were clogged and i pulled the rail out from under the fridge and the tubing does not seem to have any problems. I was reading someone elses similar complaint and it says that maybe the door is frozen so i have left the door open for about 2 hours now and still NO water. what else can I do?

Re: Water Dispenser is not dispensing water
There is a panel on the back bottom of refrigerator. Take out the screws that secure it to the back. Un plug the unit and disconnect the water. Follow the water line to the two "2" electric solenoid valves. One is for water in the ice maker and the other opens when the button is depressed on the water dispenser. The one that has a hose that travels up the rear of the unit to the top is the ice. The other one is the water for the door. It is bad. Replace it and reassemble in reverse. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Water tube is frozen inside the door. Bad design. I use boiling water, a small plastic flexible tube and appropriate plastic syringe to force very hot water into the tube pushing the small tube into the dispenser tube. At some point it will stop because of the Ice blockage, more hot water through the small tube will soon unblock the line. A retrofit "heater" was available at appliance parts stores. I installed one. It stopped working and I haven't bothered with another. The Ice supply line is separate from the water dispenser and Y's somewhere to get water into the hinge for the door access to the Water dispenser in the door. Hope this helps.
Have you changed the water filter? they can plug up over time. The water tube can freeze in the door. To test this there usually is a disconnect under the freezer door side of the grill you can disconnect this and hit the water dispenser lever. If the door is getting water then it is frozen in the door. If not the water valve could be your problem there are two sides to the water valve one for the water dispenser and one for the icemaker. A last possibility is there is a water tank or tubing loop in the refrigerator behind the crisper this could have frozen.
If you would like to test you can test while carefully testing the voltage being sent there when the cup dispenser switch is pressed. You can also test the coils in each solenoid on the dual water control valve to compare their resistance. They should both equal about the same reading. Use care in that area as the wires leading to the water control valve if wet can produce a bad shock hazzard without pressing the dispenser switch. The only other thing that bay cause this is a bad dispenser switch part. Click Here=> Maytag Water Dispenser Components Click Here=> 12575501 Dispenser Limit Switch

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer. . GE makes a heater that will prevent this from happening again. The part number for this heater is WR49X10173.
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad
most fridges stop dispensing water when you open the door. Find the door switch and make sure fridge interior light goes on/off when you manually press door switch. This would show you that the door switch was faulty.
If the water connection to the appliance is one of those watts flood-safe water lines, it may have stuck shut. I've seen this happen when the house water pressure is too high.
Does it still make ice?
If so, then the water connection is good, and either the switch in the water dispenser has failed or the water shutoff valve for the water dispenser has gone bad.
Some models have a problem with the water line getting frozen, such that simply leaving the light on in the water dispenser compartment overnight and/or manually defrosting the unit can get it working again.
check the water line fron filter that continues on to water dispfrom icemaker, also a bad water disp solenoid or no pwr to water valve disp solenoid could be a problem, when you try to disp water can you hear a click from the solenoid operating to let water out?
Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .
You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub. Pull the dispenser drawer completely out. There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it. Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening. Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose. This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.
Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

the dispenser in the freezer door has a small low temp heater surrounding the dispenser compartment to keep this from happening, and also to keep condensation from building up around the dispenser. this heater may have stopped working.
