It's an HP 3740 printer...I run 2 at my desk and one did this then the other about 5 months later.

How much are you saving by using the GENERIC? I will try to find you a good deal on the authentic. Staples tells me it's better for the life of the printer to use authentic cartridges. Are you using Generic or remanufactured?

Changed black cartridge and now only colour printer will print in is blue/green

The black print head most likely is blocked with dried ink.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Hi, when i try to print from my dell computer, I get half the picture & it comes out in blue. When I run clean cartridge I only get blue lines running across the page. I've checked the ink levels via...

May try new ink jet cartridges, as the nozzles can get plugged up over a period of disuse. Maybe try to wipe the ink jet cartridge nozzles with a cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol to clean.

But, if that doesn't work, then new cartridges are indicated even though they are kind of expensive.

I have been purchasing the less expensive ink cartridges (#30 and #31) for my pixma ip1600 and they have worked fine. I just put a #30 in my printer and it won't work. What happened?

Was the replacement cartridge Canon brand on a refill? Either way that style Canon printers are designed to not accept refiled printer cartridges for the 30s, 40s or 50s. It is likely that the printer deemed your cartridge not an un-used original and turned it into an inky paper weight. I would return the cartridge to where ever you purchased it and be sure to only purchase new Canon brand for that machine.

Black ink does not print even when new cartridge inserted

The printhead is clogged. Some printers have the printheads as part of the ink cartridges. Others are separate. Try taking a swab with alcohol to the head area. If this does not work, try the print head cleaning several times. You may find it less expensive to replace the printer.

My printer is malfunctioning. nothing prints

It is likely clogged nozzles in the ink cartridges. Try the nozzle cleaning utility in the Lexmark Solutions Center (installed with the drivers) several times. If it does not correct the problem, but you can get even the faintest lines to print, you will have to replace the cartridges. If it doesn't help at all, you could always try replacing the cartridges anyway.

I know they are expensive. So if it helps, The Fine Print offers refurbished cartridges for a lot less and will even give you a little credit to recycle your used-once cartridges.

Canon i960 printer won't print in blue

Your problem is the print head. You can buy one from Canon for about $95, or find them new from dealers on Ebay for $60 to $70. For a less expensive fix, try to remove the print head and clean it. (You don't need any tools, just remove the ink tanks and pull the print head forward and out. Over time, the receivers tend to get dry & crusted ink on them. Note that the inks used are fast drying inks to keep your pictures, etc. from smudging after you print them. Try not to use solvent. I use q-tips and hot water, then dry using another q-tip. If this does not work, there are commercial cleaning kits available for about $10. Short of that, your choice is to replace the print head or the printer itself. My i960 prints such good quality color prints and normal color printing, that I would fix it rather than replace the printer. I hope the easy cleaning does it for you!

Lexmark X2350

to be honest, yes it can probably be fixed with correct driver downloads and new cartridge/s etc...however lexmark cartridges do tend to be quite expensive and brand new printers complete with colour and black cartridges are very in-expensive can get them for under £50.....may be best to go for new...and it's guaranteed !
