Question about Philips CDR770 CD Recorder

After playing a CD for about 10mins the unit 'freezes' nothing works and to resume one has to power down. Once powered up it will run for about 2min before freezing again! Is there anyone out there who can help? Peter

Thanks for the mega quick reply. No it doesn't click but just before it shuts down it does go into ferocious distortion!

  • 836rann Jul 23, 2009

Thanks for that suggestion. I've tried a CD disc cleaner and there has been no improvement but I'll try the cotton bu method. It will have to sometime tomorrow as it's dinner time here (France) and dismantling a CD recorder at the dinner table would not go down well!

I have a Philips CD recorder which after running for about 10mins in either play or record will 'freeze' ie: the disc stops rotating and the only function available is power down. It has been suggested that a lens cleaner be used, it's been tried to no effect, and anyway it would seem to me that the problem is electronic. Incidentally the stoppage is preceded by severe audio distortion. Thanks for reading this Peter

Seems that this is a common issue for Phillips CD recorders. Seems that the laser is getting weak. I would suggest you to contact the manufacturer or reseller for repair.

Here check the links below so that you could see some reviews:

http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/philips/cd-recorders-players/cdr775-dual-deck/PRD_127721_2740crx.aspx

Sorry, but contacting Phillips would be the best suggestion that I could give.

Have a great day!

have you tried a CD lens cleaner on it? if your outside of warranty you could open it up and clean the lens with q-tip and alcohol.

Here is a sample video on the lens cleaning, its on a completely different device but you would clean the lens the same way on all devices.

    .

Also while you have the caseing open, if the drive works without the cover closed, you could look at it while its working and when the problem comes up see what happens, if the lens is unable to move that might be the issue.

Paused a disc ,when i hit play, the play light came on but nothing happened. I cannot turn off the dvd play manually. it seems to be frozen.have chaned batteries

Hi:
Try disconnecting the unit from any power source and waiting for at least 10 mins before restoring power. This should reset the units microprocessor so you can resume playing.

I need to know how to reset my printer, I 've cleaned the pads, but nothing... Thank you in advance...

Power down the Canon Pixma IP4300. Once it has shut down, leave it off for a few moments.
Hold down both the "Resume" button and the "Power Button." When the printer begins to restart, release the "Resume" button but continue pressing "Power."
Push in the "Resume" button twice, then let go of both the buttons. In a moment, a green light flashes a few times.
Press the "Resume" button four times once the green flashing has finished.
Push the "Power" button again until the printer shuts down. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button again to restart the device. The Canon Pixma IP4300 will now function properly. for more information http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/67824 hope this helps you.

Canon printer error 5100

5100 seems to be a Carriage Home Position Error. Clean the plastic strip that runs the length of the carriage, it may be contaminated. Then load the tray with the blank papers.

Then reset the Printer: Following are the steps:

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not,
press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

This should work. If not, install the Driver and Software from the Installation CD provided with the Printer.

You can also download the Driver from the following link:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&modelid=13368#DownloadDetailAct

Select the Operating System installed to download the compatible Driver.

Green light, followed by yellow light flashes 5 times, then green again. Print screen says operator error, press printer's resume button.

Hi there
You can try not really know but it like your waste ink needs to be reset.

Start with the printer OFF

1. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
2. Release RESUME
3. Press RESUME twice, then release POWER
4. Wait until print head stops moving
5. Press RESUME four times (if four doesn't work try three times)
6. Press POWER once
7. Press RESUME four times (if four doesn't work try three times)
8. Press POWER once

Repeating the RESUME/POWER code twice made the difference, the fixes I found wouldn't work because they stopped at step 6.

The power supply is going bad on you. I would suggest buying a new head unit as Xtreme Sound has little quality to offer in the first place ;)
