Error on screen showing 'unusable signal' - input probs
Question: i have screen picture, not necessarily sound yet because for some reason i am unable to get the inputs to show a picture. screen lets me navigate through options and i have all inputs 'unlocked' however when connecting a dvd player (with red, white and yellow) -- it is still not recognizing anything as the screen shows an error stating 'unusable signal' inside a red rectangle with a red circle around the wording...
please help, the picture is great but it wont connect to anything for viewing. Thanks.

From a quick look at the tv spec it would seem to cope with most inputs so I wonder if it may be due to input type selection. Mine on some inputs have sub options on its inputs which would be in the screen menu (mine has rca sockets and can become component or normal video input).
You say you can hear sound but no picture which sugests there is a signal of some sort (tv's and video's inputs become live when a video signal is present but if its poor in some way will not show) but allow sound through.
If the game is old then it may not conform to modern standards so present a blank screen. its hard to say what may be the problem but I think input selection or an incompatible signal looks to be a possible answer (if you have your plug ins correct)
Your TV could be on the wrong input source. if your using red/white/yellow cables look for an inpout button or source or even TV/Video. your tV has many inputs on it and you can only acess them 1 at a time, this allows you to toggle through the input sources and when you get to the right on you'll have picture and sound
For whichever input the monitor is currently set to (i.e. Input 1, HDMI 2, etc.) it is telling you that the signal it is receiving is unusable. The question first is the monitor set to the input you truly wish to use?
If it is, then check the cabling between the monitor and the source device (cable/satellite box, game box, etc.) If you believe it the source is working, try swapping the cable or using a different input.
If that fails, try hooking up the source to another monitor and seeing if it works there. If you have a long cable run, try higher quality cables, the video signal can degrade over long runs (> 25').
It sounds like the monitor is receive *a* signal, just not one with enough data to be useable. Probably a bad cable.
Can you see menus if you press the menu button?
You could be set to the wrong input that doesn't have a signal coming in. I have one TV that shows a blank blue screen when I'm on an input that has no signal. If there is not a signal on the input being used you will also not have sound.
What is your TV input connection? Are you using Antenna? Cable? Dish?
The Unusable Signal sounds like the TV is not getting a signal. Does your TV have a built in HD Tuner?
If you are using Antenna you might want to try setting up the connections and it should search for quality channels that you get good signal strength. If you are on channel 2 and there is no over the air channel 2 it may say "unusable signal".
