Question about Panasonic NV-DS15EN Mini DV Digital Camcorder

3 Answers

I recorded 40mins of footage last Sunday and on the Monday tried to down load, via fire wire, into my Magix programme on the pc, as I would normally do. The computer would remotely fast forward and rewind etc, but no picture on cam screen or in the software package. Tried cleaning the head with minidv cleaner but no joy.????????????? I can access the menus ok on the cam screen, but no play back picture just a blank screen. I have tried other tapes from stuff previously recorded and still have same problem. Regards Brian H.

    Hi

Are you saying I should send / take to a Panasonic dealer for them to check it to repair it even though it is old and out of warranty.

The fault occcurs in the play back??

    Hi

Well. I have found a tape that does work on the camcorder.

The original tape now works also but all sound and picture is increasingly pixelating and sound is broken up on cam screen and on software viewing screen.

Could this be the tape is damaged or dirty heads do you think??

I have purchased some new tapes to test.

    Regards

    Brian H.

Hi, off the bat it sounds like a head or ccd problem. Either way you would have to send it in for repair. Or have it serviced by an independent professional. If you need the contact information for either one please let me know. If you have any other questions or need further assistance as well I will be glad to assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

Hi there

When not connected to a computer, the the playback directly on the device itself work then?

At the moment it does look like the camcorer isn't sending the picture data through to the computer, although it is accepting the rewind and fast forward commands.

When recording, are you able to see the live images on the small display?

Thanks.

Malfunction:
It has been confirmed that the connecting parts of the internal wiring of the CCD used in affected products may become disconnected, especially if the affected products are stored or used in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. If this occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD normally in Shooting Mode, which may cause a distorted image or the absence of an image. This malfunction can be confirmed on the LCD monitor screen during shooting. The same malfunction also appears on the recorded image.

Panasonic's Response:
Effective immediately, and regardless of warranty status, Panasonic will repair, free of charge, the products listed above exhibiting the above-mentioned malfunction if Canon determines that the malfunction is caused by the CCD image sensor. Panasonic will also cover the cost of shipping and handling in connection with this repair.

I've had magix notation 2 for some time now. Recently it has stopped playing any sound. I can hear midi files using other programmes on my PC. The only programme that has no sound at all is Magix...

Do you use Windows 7? If so, try this. First, make sure Magix Notation is open. At the bottom right of the screen in the System Tray, there is a little icon that looks like a speaker. Right click that, and click Mixer.
In the screen that pops up, you should see different volumes that are set for different programs. Magix notation should be in there. If the volume is all the way down, turn it all the way up! If the volume is already all the way down, then I am not sure what your problem. Hope this helps, though.

Magix recording speeds up sometimes

you've hit the nail on the head mate.
It's your driver settings, you just need to change them.
but first i need you to check something, coz when you install MAGIX it also installs it's own AOSIO drivers & VST-DX Adapter Light.
but because you've up graded/dated windows these mite have changed, moved or even gone.
so open magix music editor 2.0 from the program files / magix then open a new project, click on the red OPT record button then choose your settings.
what are your options in the RECORD DEVICE AND FILE PATH drop down? let me known @

HVX200 shot footage - viewing footage on consumer grade camera

You can only view hd footage on hd devices. so if you recorded hd footage onto a tape, you will not be able to view it on a standard def camera, ie the dvx100b. The footage should not be harmed. Now if you are trying to view via p2 card over the firewire, whole new scenario.

How to get footage from a sony handy cam on to a PC

Sony does not support older camcorders that worked with USB on XP but no longer work with either firewire or USB on Vista. The work around I've used on Vista is to only install the Sony driver which is available from http://support.sony-europe.com/dime/downloads/downloads.aspx?&f=usbdrven_vista&site=odw_en_GB You only need the Sony driver to use another programme to capture the video. FX Vidcap works well on Vista via USB. http://www.jhepple.com/video_capture_software.htm
