Replace the following capacitors:

3 pcs - 220 microF - 25v
2 pcs - 1000 microF - 25v
1 pc - 2200 microF - 25v

Resolder the 2 transformer legs for the inverter.

Hi

This monitor is suffering from capacitors which are failing. There are probably five on the power supply board which need replaement.
You can send this to my company for repair or take it to a local servieman. If capacitors are the only problem then the repair should be less than $100.00 = shipping.

Thanks

My Monitor lost the image suddenly (black screen). When I turn it on, the LED indicate a green light the image appear for 1 sec and disappear. The ON OFF button still green though.... I can conclude...

First place to check will be the DC filter caps in the power supply, it can have circuits failure in the backlight inverter, or bad lamp assemblies (worst case).
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I HAVE A WESTINGHOUSE FLAT SCREEN AND THE PIC COMES ON FOR A SEC THAN GOES OFF? WHATS UP DOES ANYONE KNOW?

I assume this is an LCD set. One possibility is the backlight inverter is shutting down because one or more of the fluorescent light tubes is bad. If part of the screen is pinkish or dim, that is almost certainly the problem. If you still hear sound, then you can verify that it is a backlight issue by shining a flashlight on the screen at an angle and looking for a picture in the illuminated area (it will be dim and low-contrast). Seeing a picture in this way is proof that the backlight is not working; not seeing one doesn't prove anything because some sets shut down completely if the inverter stops running.

These sets use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamps (CCFL). They are very thin tubes, and have a single wire on each end that must be soldered. The tubes are very delicate and the soldering requires an expert since heat cannot be applied for more than three seconds. Just so you know you won't find them in the light bulb section at Walmart...

If the set shuts down completely (sound goes off also), you may have a failed capacitor in the power supply. It's just barely good enough to get the set going, but is inadequate when it starts to get warm.

Asus AL2216W top half screen got darker. Lamp problem ?

When the lamps are bad, the screen will shut down if the inverter cricuits is sensing open (lamps will not fire up and conduct, or lamps are drawing too much current). You should open it up and inspect the caps in the power supply first, lamps in this monitor are ntoeasy to replace (screnn will to be complete,ey disassembled.

Just as the others, stays on for a couple secs then go blank. If I power down and back on i ts on for a couple sec. Checked voltage on supply its 12.3 vdc

Point a flashlight at the screen when it shuts down and see if an image is still there. If so, it may be the backlight inverter. You can try to get the part, but most shops would charge you more than a replacement.

To verify, before you pitch it, try it with another monitor and see if the same thing occurs. Ran into a case where something downloaded reset the power-saving settings for the backlight.

My Acer AL2216W won't power on

This sounds like it could be your inverter or backlight. I would recommend taking it into a local computer shop and having it checked out.

I have an SVA LCD Model VR-17S Monitor that has a black screen

Sounds like the Backlight balance sensor circuit is shutting down the inverter supply. A weak bulb can cause this or a malfunctioning sensor circuit can cause it too. Best method to troubleshoot is to substitute good bulbs; if it still shuts down, look for a pair of small electrolytic caps on the inverter board near the bulb sockets. They may be weak.

Elo 17" LCD Touch screen ET1725L Powers off after 1 second

Your problem lies ion either your back light inverter or in the backlight tubes ( bulbs) which are embedded in the LCD display. The display has 4 ccf tubes inside of it that provide the backlighting. if any of these tubes are bad the backlight inverter will shut off after about 1 second. Because there are 4 of these tubes inside the screen you may not notice ( brightness wise) if 1 of them is out.

You can buy another backlight inverter( about $70.00 US) however, from my experience that would be a waste of money. Unfortunately, I think your problem probably lies in your LCD and the backlight tubes are not replaceable.

Hope this helps all who have this problem.
Good luck

Jim

This is an inverter board problem. The inverter supplies the high voltage and frequency to run the CCFL backlights. The board has a sensing circuit to shut down the output if too much current is going to the backlights or it will shut down if the transistors overheat. I have replaced transistors on some boards with higher rated transistors and they have worked great for years. Sometimes it is just a cold solder joint on the inverter board. Replacement boards are expensive but not too difficult to replace. Repair requires some ability with electronic boards and should not be attempted if you do not posess the skill. You could end up damging other parts that cost more.
