Question about Plumbing

1 Answer

I hooked the water up and couldn't get any water flow. The hoses are fine. I took off the manifold and the water came through. I soaked the manifold in vinegar but I still can't get flow through it. There seems to be an obstruction. Any ideas?

I would replace the drain pump if you are sure there are no obstructions to the water flow.

You can use a water hammer arrestor and hook it up to old washing machine hot valve by use of a standard washer hose. This type of aresstor is basically. a shock absorber. You will needtonget pipe adapters to go from hose thread to pipe thread. If you can mount the hammer arressror higher then the washer valve. Hook everything up and turn old hot water valve back on. This shoulg take care of your problem. Thank you.

Water leaking out of unit, not out of flow tube.

Some models have a hose, some don't , maybe the drain hole it's restricted, condensor normally it's in the back of the unit, you might have to remove one of the side panels.

Kemore 80 series washer - cold water fill is only a trickle, but can get normal flow if we open and close the cold water facuet many times. The problem is getting worse - taking longer to get mormal flow....

I would start with checking the faucet first. Turn it off. Disconnect the hose, and try running water from the faucet into a bucket. Also check the hose screen in the end of the hose itself.

Have an '85 CJ7--put in new radiator and thermostat, new water pump--fan shroud installed, Jeep still overheats, motor runs good, doesn't act like it's a head gasket problem????? Can't figure out why it's...

Take out the thermostat and run it like this for while. If the motor still over heats: Look over by the battery, do you see where those two hoses from the radiator and the water manifold are going into the firewall? Take the hose going to the manifold from the firewall off of the connection at the firewall and connect it directly to the water pump. I think the manifold hose is the one on the right just make sure it's not the one coming from the water pump. You'll have to remove the hose coming to the fire wall from the water pump where it is connected at the pump but, that's OK for now just tie/tape it to something out of the way. Now then, your water pump will be sending water directly to the water manifold without any obstruction. When you run the motor for a little while and find that it stays super cool, I then suggest (if you want any heated air this winter) that you have the heater core (there behind the firewall where the two hoses were going) flushed clean or replaced and hooked back up. Once water can flow freely through the system your thermostat can probably be reinstalled w/ out overheating the motor.

Hot water just trickles in both of my Kenmore top loader washers

Try reversing hot for cold hoses and see what happens. That will test your valves, hot water pressure, etc. As far as I know, the valve screens are right where the hoses hook up.

Water pressure drops after a few seconds to almost nothing...

In the hand held shower head where the hose attaches to shower head. In the head there could be a flow restrictor. It may be rubber or plastic. In some cases you can remove it, or check if something is blocking it. Also try running the shower without the head on to see if there is some debris in the hose, and to check your water flow.

Washing machine auto soak then over flow

ok, here's the deal. you could have one of two things wrong with it. either the pressure switch is bad, or the hose that goes to the pressure switch has a hole in it. to check the hose you have to remove the case.

Water trickles out of sprayer head on pull out faucet.

Hi crossroadsjm,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: soaked in vinegar water but did nothing. took off spray head from hose and the water stream is very small in diameter. only 1 year old faucet. could cartidge be bad or clogged? water pressure in rest of house is fine.

It is very possible that some debrie has come up in the water and is partially clogging the faucit. For this you would have to turn the water off and disassemble the parts clearing all the small passages, a bit of wire or paper clip works. Perhaps for a pro? If you like you may choose to utilize our Repair Directory.
