I have comcast cable net and D-link WBR 1310

Same problem. Just got Comcast and it works fine plugged directly into the computer with the USB. However, I can't get the wireless to work for the laptop. Some solutions say to check this or check that but I'm not sure what those things are.

Hi, forget about the USB connection since you wanted to use a router for your wireless connection. Contact Comcast asnd make sure they assist you in making your computer connect to the Internet using the ethernet connection because you are going to use the ethernet connection for the modem-router connection. Once your computer is online with the ethernet connection, you can connect your Dlink router to the modem and configure it for Internet connection. There will be more steps before you can use the wireless connection. Just make sure you can get online with ethernet connection first.

I got a old WBR-1310 router.. I am trying to hook it up to my comcast modem.. however, I don't have the original set up disc. I downloaded the Quick Set up from the D Link site..but it is telling me that...

You maybe able to configure the router manually, the configuration URL for Dlink routers is usually http://192.168.0.1 but i don't know if this will work with your router. The default login = admin and the default PW = is blank.

How do I hook up a Berklin wireless router to my comcast internet

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the port on the Comcast modem to the WAN port on the Berklin (Belkin????) router.
Use another Ethernet cable to connect one of the LAN ports on the router to the Ethernet port on your computer.
Start Internet Explorer on your computer.
Connect to the web-interface inside the router.
Run the "network setup wizard".

How do I hook d link up to my comcast router so that I can use it with my laptop?

Well, you are trying to connect a router to a router, that can be difficult. Is there anyway you can exchange the Dlink router for a Wireless Access Point (AP)? If you can, you just connect the AP to the 4-port network side of the comcast router, configure the wifi settings (security, etc), and you're good to go.
If you can't exchange it, then your best bet is to connect the 4-port (or internal) side of the dlink router to the 4-port side of the comcast router. Then the dlink will be seen by the comcast router as another internal connection, and you can set the wifi settings of the dlink at that point. If you connect the dlink to the comcast router via the External port on the dlink, then you are creating two separate IP subnets, a needless complex setup.

Connection

Go to this site to download a manual to verify you have it setup right.
http://www.d-link.com/products/?tab=3&pid=WBR-1310&rev=WBR-1310
or try this first.
Power off your modem,D-Link and PC.
You need to have the cable that looks like a wide phone plug with 8 contacts instead of 4 (cat 5 cable) go from your comcast modem to the plug on back of the D-Link that is marked WAN.
Then plug a cat 5 cable into any of the 1 through 4 Lan ports on back of the D-Link to your PC's Ethernet port.
Then with all these powered off turn on the Comcast modem, wait a full 2 minutes for it to settle in. then turn on the D-Link give it 2 minutes then turn on your PC.
If that doesn't work for you refer to the manual or you have something broke that may require servicing in person by someone computer savvy.
Hope this helps.

Trouble connecting netgear wireless router to rca modem DCM425

First try connection the Yellow ethernet cable from the rca modem to your computer's network connection. If you get a connection this way, then your modem will work with a ethernet cable. If not, then call Comcast for help. The modem ethernet out to computer port must be connected to the wan line of the router. Then you can connect an ethernet cable from your computer network connection to one of the 4 ports of the router. For wireless connections you must set up the router and wireless adaptor with the same settings to connect. Follow the routers directions.
