Hey there,
6 or 7 flashes means a power faillure in them (cheap) capcitors Philips used on the plasma-chassis. Open the back of that unit en locate the Power Driver Board(it's the biggest part) than locate the two CAP's valued 3300uF 10V +105*C (they may look damaged/cracked/black stuff oozing out)
Replace them with these two super CAP's(10000h):
Digi-Key Part Number P13117-ND
you need an steady hand on this job and the right tools, or go out to your local electronic-shop and make them do this for you.
Good luck,
Joe (from Holland, land of Philips...)

Did you replaced the caps correct? ( + tot + and - to - )
Check if the removed cables were placed back correct.

I have phillips 42pf9631d/37 that wont turn on and blinks red seven times

I have the model Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on and MOST articles on the Internet say it's the Capacitors capictors capictors..I checked all of them.

MINE WAS RESISTOR no. 3318 , a 100 OHM RESISTOR ON POWER SUPPLY BOARD.

I BOUGHT REPLACEMENT FOR .99 CENTS SOLDER IT, AND EVERYTHING WORKED!!!

THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK.

JUST A SUGGESTION..
1. CHECK FOR BULGING CAPACITORS (90 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM)
2. THEN CHECK FOR RESISTORS WITH MULTIMETER ( FALLS INTO THE OTHER 10 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM.)

TELL ME IF THAT HELPS..normanw1@yahoo.com

No picture or sound just chriping sound

Hello,

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this help in solving the problem....

Hi just a related post question.... I initially had the same prob with my tv it flashed red 7 times so, I took out the main board and brought to a local tv repair shop to have (2) capacitors that were...

i would think its because they have put in 16v 3300 105degreeC and not 10v 3300uf 105degreeC if the 10v ones had blown then they should of put 10v back in it might be that the 16v are to high for the unit.
hope this helps

Phillips ambilight 50 in red light problem

I had this problem on a 42" Philips Ambilight. After reading in another forum, opened up the back, and found 2 leaking capacitors on the center circuit board (main power supply pc board) toward the bottom. Tops of the capacitors were bludged out (10v 3300uF) and leaking electrolytes. Unsoldered the old ones myself, went to Radio Shack. They were out, so order 12 on ebay for $6.63 including shipping. Resoldered and works fine. Can't do it yourself? Take the board out (just unhook the cables & unscrew it ), and take it to a computer shop or tv repair or someone who knows how to solder, and have them change them. Piece of cake!

Check the power board for capacitors with the tops bulged up. They are 3300uf 10v. There are either 2 or 4 of them depending on your set.
