ArcLibrary wont update

I have hundreds of albums now on my 202 and when I ad one I always update the ArcLibrary. No new albums however will show up on the searches by artist or year etc. They only show under Music and Browser. How can I fix this?

My Archos gmini 500 can not update its ARC library anymore. It starts but soon stops everything. I can't do anything but remove the battery for a reset.

I had similar problem at Archos Gemini 202s. ARClib would crash. I solved as follows: Created a folder on the 202. Moved half my files and folders from the Music folder (via de PC, of course). Then checked for correct update of ARClib. If not, I swapped the contents of the folders and checked with the other half. If update is succesful, it is now known what half is the faulty one.
Now, try to troubleshoot this faulty half in the same way. And so on. Quite quickly, you know what file(s) cause the problem. Good luck!

I had this problem with the Gmini XS202s. I had previously formatted the drive in windows as per the manual instructions.

However, grasping at straws, I reformatted the drive from within the unit itself (Setup>>System>>Format Device). This created a folder called "Music", which wasn't there after the windows format.

Re pasted all my files in there, an everything was dandy again.

Hope this helps - Jerome

I added CD covers to the CD's in my COBY MP707. They show up in the media manager software, but I can't get them into the physical player. Also sometimes the album gets broken up in the player...

The mp3 player organizes by ID3 tag information, which is on the individual song. It unfortunately doesn't organize it any other way. Album art is not supported by the MP3 player. You can copy it over but it wont show, probably just see the default keyboard image. You can edit the ID3 information with a tag editor..the naming has nothing to do with it, most of Coby's MP3 players have no sort order for music outside of what I just explained.

Songs won't show up in the artist folder

try going to menu, settings, system, and then clicking the update ARCLibrary button, that was all it took for me.
if that doesn't work then go to repair and formatting tools and click "clear temp system files and cache"

Firmware upgrade results in arclibrary boot failure

I managed to overcome the problem by doing a factory reset. Unfortunately doing this initially created more problems in that on reboot the main screen appearance looked as it should but was almost inoperable. When the usb cable was connected to my pc the disc did appear on My Computer . The system folder was only 1MB. By good fortune I had copied and saved my Archos files before I carried out the factory reset. Copying the original system files ( about 20MB) back to my Archos returned normal behaviour. Further, two additional buttons appeared. One was a manual arclibrary update button and the other a USB setup button . I cannot get file transfer to operate under windows media player mode and Windows media player 11. No problem though. I use PC hard drive mode and carry out a manual arclibrary update. None of this was possible prior to the factory reset. I believe I would still be having serious problems had I not saved and restored my system files

Iriver H10 20GB - i can't access my music through Artists or Albums

Have you tired doing a "Database Refresh". It's located on the main screen under "Settings". Go to Database Refresh and check "Yes". How much music you have on your player will determine how long the refresh will take. If that doesn't work possibly run the Firmware Updater from iRivers' web site and only update the database, do not do a complete "Recovery" or all of your music will be erased as that choice reformats your hard drive. Only choose "Update Firmware"
