Question about Canon PowerShot A610 Digital Camera

My camera won't turn on.

The battery power had run out and, after replacing the batteries, my camera simply would not turn on. I tried again to replace them, but no dice.

I haven't turned the camera on for a couple of years. I've tried charging the battery, but I can't get it to power up. Do I need to replace battery or is it something else?

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

My fuji finepix s5000 has lost power

see this causes and proceed . God bless you
If the camera won't turn on, check the batteries, or connect the camera to an AC adapter. If that doesn't work, remove all batteries, disconnect the AC adapter, wait a minute, reinsert batteries and reconnect the adapter.
If the flash doesn't work, the camera won't take pictures, or the screen keeps turning off, check that the batteries are strong.

The eye of the lens won't close anymore and keep saying to turn the power on and off again, what should I do?

You might try removing the battery for a minute or two to reset the camera. You may lose any special settings in the process. After reinstalling the battery, try turning the power on and off again.

If this camera takes ordinary batteries you may have inserted them the wrong way around.
If it takes a rechargeable pack recharge it for average time recommended and try again.

I dropped my canon powershot SD 4500 IS and now it won't turn on! It's survived countless other falls just fine, and would turn on immediately then. All times, including this time, have been when...

Really!....you've dropped your camera "countless" other times and now you're concerned because this time, it won't turn on!!! You're not sure what else to do?!!! How about not dropping your camera. How about using the wrist strap. Your dropping luck has run out...your camera does not have nine lives.

Camera won't switch on, put new batteries in it, took a photo to test, since then it won't switch on.

If you were able to take one shot before the camera packed up it can be that the battery does not have charge on it and so after the first shot it has drained the battery. So check out the charge on it or repeat charging to test once again.
Other wise it can be that the camera control unit is faulty. Try and reset by removing battery for a while and trying once again.

Camera turns on, lense comes out and powers off. turn back on and lense retracts and powers off

When the camera turns on, and then turns off again it usually means that the batteries are too low to power the unit correctly. Replace your batteries and try turning it on again. This model camera uses a lot of power and drains batteries pretty easily. Rechargeables sometimes do not hold enough to power it correctly for very long.

If you replace the batteries and still have the same problem, try contacting Fuji direct for repair options. Without seeing the camera to troubleshoot it or have the ability to ask you questions and have you try troubleshooting actions based on those answers - there really isn't much else I can do for you.

it would appear the battery is "weak" and needs to be replaced. although testing it with a battery tester may show it is fine. when you turn on the camera you are putting the battery under a load and the voltage may drop too low. quick test would be to test the battery voltage after you take it out of the charger and then again after you have used it to power on the camera. ebay would likely be your most inexpensive source for a replacement battery.
as a side note i suggest you go to the canon website to find out if there is a recall on that particular battery. i realize this is about camera's but my garmin gps battery was recalled (and the gps was about 4 years old) and it was replaced for free.

Canon Powershot G7 just wont turn on... for no reason I can tell.

Usually you can't hear the loose screws in these when they fall out and short out the camera, although many people will say you can. When you have no power on a G7 or a G9, it is most always that loose screw problem. The screws inside should be corrected at the time of the repair so the problem doesn't happen again later. The site that is great for help with the Canon Powershot Camera problems is: www.camerasandparts.com They are great with these and that is all they specialize in. I would see if they can help, they're amazing if you need a hand with the Powershots, plus they do that no power correction on all G7 and G9's they service which I like. Good luck with it
