Question about ASUS AP 1700 Server

1 Answer

Damaged server We received a server that was purchased from a company that was damaged upon delivery. The front of the case is trashed, the case is dented and the panels inside were dislodged from the unit. Is it possible to have this unit shipped to you for repair or is there someone near us that can repair the unit? Thank-you Barry R. Garber

Re: Damaged server

You can ship it to Computer Rescue at if you like or you can search in your area. If you can't find anyone under Computer Repair in your yellow pages in your phone book then you probably need to send it out.

Power Switch Board

I'm not sure what you need the pin-out for. If the cable is damaged or the unit is suspect, simply replace it. The model number for the board and cable is 413988-001. A quick Google search turned up replacement parts for as low as $25. If you want the component for some other purpose, there are better ways to accomplish this.

I have a Dell Power Edge 1855. The KDV light (I think) on the front is flashing orange and will not turn on. I have reseated the server in the chassis but that has not done any good. We have four of...

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

If you are certain the RAID controller is damaged, replace it and see if the server reconized the os. If after performing this, it is possible that the surge from the power being restored may have damaged your boot files. At that point you will need to perform a system restore.

Good Luck.

Good News and Bad:

Bad News - if the server was dropped really hard, the drives needles may be damaged and can not read the data on the disk(s).

Good News - If you know of a local company that do hard drive repair, they may be able to get the drive to work again to at least transfer the information to a new drive. (Check you local yellow pages for Data Recovery services.)

Hope you at least have a backup of the information that was on the drives.

Good Luck

Our Altos 1100E Server just went down. We think that the mother board burned up, but do not know what else. Do you have parts?

To check the motherboard take off the side of the case where you see two m4 nuts,An m4 nutspinner will do it.
If you can see anything that's burnt renew the whole motherboard. It could be a waste of time taking out an ic(chip)from the board, other components may be damaged as well.

I need to get to the configuration utility

These menus are for SCSI/SAS controllers. If your server doesnt have a SCSI/SAS controller installed, or if it is disabled then you would not receive these prompts.

Drive array problem

Hi Nick ,

As of now you can Select "F2" to accept data loss and re-enable logical drive. This Load OS Normally .
It seems that one of the HDD in the RAID 5 has failed , Did you notice any LED indications like red or amber on the HDDs ?? if so get that hdd replaced . Make sure the Failed HDD is replaced .
You can run the Array Diagnostic Utility from HP System tools to check the Failed Drives and also frimware version of the controller . If the frimware is not latest Update it from HP website. DL380 G4 should have Smart Array 6i controller .

Hope This was Helpful
cheers :)

hi i think you have a lot of spam mails in your mail box or bulk.

try emptying the entire box to see if it would respond.
yahoo mail services have small capacity for the individual user

if this does not work then consider deleting it from the server
