I have a toshiba laptop and it wont come on

I shut my laptop off for a while a cut it back on and a message was on the screen and it told me the selectable bay lock key was unlocked and for me to cut it off and to lock the selectable bay lock key. Well the only thing that I can think of that it was the caps lock key so I turned it off and pressed the key and the message still keeps coming on so please tell me how do I fix this problem?

Laptop cut off

Go to "Control Panel", click on it, then click on "Appearance and Themes" click on "Screen Saver", Look towards the bottom of the screen and find "Monitor Settings", click on "Power". Check to see if the setting have changed, I set all my settings to "Never", that way I can shut them down when I want to.
I hope this helped.

Hi,

What your friends have told you is correct for newer Toshiba models, they do have a "recovery partition"

Here is how you recover the OS >>>>>>

1, Make sure the laptop is turned off.
2, Hold down the zero (0) key and turn the laptop on, keep it pressed in until you see the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" screen.
3, Choose the "Recovery of Factory Default Software" and click next.
4, The "Recovery of Factory Default Software" will appear.
5, Choose the "Recover to out-of-box-state" you will then get a message that all your data will be lost. Click next and the recovery process will start.

Once complete you will see a message that the HDD has been recovered.

Before you start the recovery process its a good idea to back up any data you have unless you not bothered or have already done so.

That's just the way Windows works when power is cut off. You should set your Control Panel/Power settings to put the PC into hibernation if it's left alone for too long.

I was shutting down my toshiba laptop, its now frozen.

If nothing else works remove the battery, leave it for 5 mins then replace it and it will start as normal. Yyou will get an error message usually saying it was not shut down correctly and it may do a system scan but unless there is a real problem with it that will restart it. Ive had to do that twice with mine in the last year.

Toshiba satellite m40 booting problem.

Hi! It appears that possibly your hrad drive isn't set properly in the caddy? with the laptop powered down and disconnected locate the hard drive cover pop out the two locating screws and carefully move the caddy/hard drive BEWARE as the drive has fragile pins at the opposite end where you opened, hopefully little sliding pressure should remove. Check the retaining screws around the caddy (You'll need a small torx/philips screw driver for this) if all tight replace gently.
If you are uncertain I would recommend a technician check it for you.
Good Luck!

U have to try to format it..

Reason is u are infected and if u format it the virus will not remove it will be in SYSTEM BACK UP MEMORY and when u format automaticlly on WELCOMEN SCREEN u are infected..The best for u is if u put ur hdd in another laptop as external and format it with CMD.When u are done put it back to ur pc and format it with original winxp!!!

If u still have a problem just contact me!!!
