That happened to me. It was weird though, as it turned out there was no battery. I had turned it on and was listerning to it, and it had full battery, and then suddenly all the power was drained from it. I left it 48 hours, and then connected it to the computer.
Now it works great.

Ok I had same problem, Zen V Plus wouldn't switch on, when plugged into PC no lights came nothing, absolutly dead. Found this on another website and well i'll be jiggered it worked, hope it does for you too.

Plug it into the PC, hold the power switch in the 'on' position, THEN trigger the reset button, (hold it in for a few seconds). make sure you feel the reset button depress.

Good Luck

If you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto <Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9, whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to re-configure Windows Media Player again.

Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.

This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi

WOW! Thank you guys for this info! This has happened to me twice and I had sent it in to the manufacturer under the warranty. Then it happened to me again not 2 months later. I was furious! Again, thank you so much! The company should be thanking you guys too! ;)

My creative zen will turn on if I hook it up to the USB or the wall, but when I turn it off, it won't cut on again unless I hook it up again.
It says the battery is fully charged, so what could the problem be?
It's frustrating.
I've tried the reset+power thing.
What else can I do?

My creative Zen M 30 would not do anything after leaving it plugged in for 24 hours. I hit the reset while holding the power button on and it all came back. It is fully charged and it is working. Thanks to all who have problem solved on this website.

Zen will not turn on. This is the 2nd 4gb model I have purchased this year. The 1st works perfectly but I passed it on to my son. This (new) model is dead, or so it seems.

ZEN was on playing song from playlist...decided to switch to FM to hear a baseball game. Hit stop button and then went to use the back button and joystick to get to Menu. The unit froze, featuring a drop of water in a pond picture. Couldn't get it to do anything. Plugged into wall charger as well as trickle charger to see if I could at least shut it off, nothing. Left it on the wall charger over night, woke to a black screen but still no ability to turn it on. Plugged into computer, it stated the unit was not plugged in even though it was. Unit not responding to any on/off commands...now what?

my zen v wont turnn on even when i turn on computer and my reset does not work.

Mine is totally dead. The lights don't turn on, the screen is black, the reset button doesn't work. I hope it's not gone for life!
I'm going to try a few things and see if it works. Here, maybe you might want to try these things. I've got all of these from various websites.

(1) press the reset button (hole right below the on/off) with a pin.

(2) Make sure it's not on lock.

(3) Leave out UNPLUGGED for a few hours. Somebody said this worked.

(4) charge it for a good amount of time (like a whole 24 hours) --it's what I'm going to do. The only problem with this is...is that I don't know if it's getting the power supply because it says it's not connected! Ack!

(5) call them! at http://www.creative.com/support there's a few ways you can get help (I don't want to do this just yet)

(6) hold the on-button down, while pressing reset, while having it charged in.

(7) or do the same thing uncharged

these are just various solutions I found.

In the middle of setting up this gift for our daughter, the player just died. The computer wouldn't even recognize it. We followed the hint below by Lambo and it worked. Connect player to PC, hold ON switch while pressing reset button for a few seconds. Thanks Lambo!!
