Completely go throught all the area's that are possible for paper to get jammed in. Also make sure the print head is in the correct location when it is not printing. The lights indicate a critical jam or malfunction. After checking everything unplug the printer for 30 sec and plug it back in. also make sure that all doors and paper trays are properly closed or inserted. I hope this helps. Good luck

Power went off when I tried to print

Would be helpful to know which operating system you are using and whether there where any warning light flashing. For starters review the following solutions.
Printer Does Not Start or Stops During Print Jobs

Inner Cover was open when you started printing.

Close the Inner Cover and press the RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer. The printer resumes printing.

Inner Cover was opened while printing is in progress.

Close the Inner Cover and press the RESUME/CANCEL button on the printer.

A page of print data being sent at the time of the error will be erased, so print that page again.

The printer has been printing continuously over a long period.

If the printer has been printing continuously for a long time, the Print Head may overheat. To protect the Print Head, the printer may stop printing at a line break for a period of time and then resume printing.

In this case, interrupt your print session at a convenient time and turn the printer off for at least 15 minutes.

Additionally, if the printer has been printing graphics or photos with intense colors continuously over a period of time, the printer may stop printing to protect the Print Head. In this case, printing will not resume automatically. Turn the printer off for at least 15 minutes.

i_expl.gif Caution

The Print Head and the surrounding area can become extremely hot inside the printer. Never touch the Print Head or nearby components.

Out of paper.

Make sure that paper is loaded in the selected paper source.

Reload paper if no paper is found in the selected paper source (Auto Sheet Feeder or the Cassette).

If the same paper is loaded in the other paper source, you can switch the paper source with the Paper Feed Switch or the printer driver to continue printing.

If both paper sources have run out of paper, confirm the selected paper source and load paper there.

Printing documents with plenty of photographs or illustrations.

When the POWER lamp is flashing green, the printer or the computer is processing data. Printing large data such as photos or graphics takes time for the printer and the computer to process, during which the printer may appear to have stopped operating.

In addition, when printing data that uses a large amount of ink continuously on plain paper, the printer may pause temporarily. In either case, wait until the process is complete.

i_note.gif Note

If you are printing a document with a large printing area or printing multiple copies of a document, printing may pause to allow the ink to dry.

- If the power light is flashing it means that your printer may be receiving data.
- If the resume light is flashing you may be out of paper, or you may have a paper jam, you may be printing a two sided document by hand and the first side has finished printing.
- If the print cartridge status light is flashing that means the top cover may be open, of there may be a problem with one of the cartridges.
- If all of the lights are flashing the printer may need to be reset.

Hope this helps.

The power and paper light keeps flashing

This could mean that a 2-sided document was sent to the printer and the printer is waiting for the page(s) to be reinserted to print on side 2. Check your documentation or the HP support page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=75045&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
for more information.

The power light blinking indicates the printer is preparing to print a document. The resume light indicates 1) needs paper, 2) a paper jam anywhere in the printer, or 3) the ready to print side 2 of the document.

I hope this helps.

Here are all the flashing explanations:

Reload the paper correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

Three flashes: Paper jam

If paper has jammed in the printer, clear the jam, reload the paper in the printer correctly and press the RESUME/CANCEL button.

Four flashes: Empty ink tank

If you press the RESUME/CANCEL button, it will continue printing with an empty ink tank. After printing is finished, replace the ink tank immediately. If you continue printing with an empty ink tank, it may cause damage to your printer.

Refer to your Quick Start Guide for instructions on how to replace an ink tank.

Five flashes: No print head installed/Defective print head

Install the print head. Also, ensure that the protective tape has been removed.

If reinstalling the print head does not solve the problem, replace it with a new one. Contact the Customer Care Center.

Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full

The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact the Customer Care Center.
