Question about Garmin nuvi 750 GPS Receiver

Garmin 755T - Same Problem

Garmin 755T - Had issue with Firmware Update (1%)- then pressed "OK" to move on. Later, the unit simply would not turn on for @ 36 Hrs. Now sometimes has difficulty acquiring satellites and I have to re-cycle it to get out of ever-ending loop of "acquiring satellite". I read on this blog (FixYa) that another person experienced same issue - exactly as I did. What is issue and recommended actions?\r\nThanks
Bob

Have you tried a complete reset? If not this is what you do. Turn on the Garmin at the same time press the bottom right hand corner of the screen. this will return it to factory standard, but it will wipe out any information you may have stored on it.

Garmin freezes up on the first screen

Two things :
1. First a hard reset. Turn the unit off andunplug it from a power source. Then press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen. While hold you thumb or finger here turn on the unit until you get the prompt erase all user data, tap yes and allow the unit to restart. Next we need to update the firmware because alot of the original firmware was buggy were the units would freeze up.
2. http://www8.garmin.com/products/webupdater/howtoinstall.jsp go to that link and downlaod garmin webupdater and install it. While its downloading connect your unit to your pc via usb cable. Once the program is downloaded and installed, run it and follow the onscreen prompts to update your unit. This should fix your issues with your unit freezing up on you.
if this information was helpful please click accept so i may get credit for my time. thank you!

Garmin Nuvi 650

1. Browse here and install the latest version of WebUpdater:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=999-99999-27

2. Turn on your Nuvi, press view map, press speed, press and hold the middle of the speedometer (the circle that says 0.0mph in it). After five seconds (maybe a bit longer), the engineering menu will appear.

3. Press "Next" five times (once for each page). You will arrive at the "Bluetooth Status" page.

4. Press "Clear". Confirm by pressing "yes".

5. Press "Updt PR". Confirm by pressing "yes".

6. This probably did _nothing_ for you, but to be thorough, I've included the steps.

7. Connect the Nuvi to your computer. Run the webupdater and if the latest version is already detected on your Nuvi, simply proceed and browse the list of further updates.

8. If "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) DOES NOT APPEAR skip to step 10 below, otherwise complete your fix with the next step, step 9.

9. If the "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) appears in your list, select this update and agree to term of service, and have the updater load the firmware onto your device. Unplug your device. It should powerup automatically. Power off. Power back on. Your BT should be back in business. Do NOT continue with the next steps. You are done.

10. If "Bluetooth Firmware Update..." (or similar text) DOES NOT APPEAR in the list, then you need to remove the offending update that is making WebUpdater believe that your Nuvi is up-to-date.

11. You can access the Nuvi by clicking on "My Computer" and double clicking the Nuvi link.

12. Click the "Garmin" folder.

13. Click the "RemoteSW" folder.

14. DELETE "006B055301.GCD". This file will be one of two GCD files in the directory: <DRIVE>:\Garmin\RemoteSW. The file without the "Date Modified" is the original firmware. The other file is the new firmware that the Nuvi believes is installed. By deleting the newer of the two files, WebUpdater will see that your Nuvi is out-of-date. Return to step 8 to continue your fix.

This should resolve all permutations of this nasty bug.

Garmin 755T Issue - Firmware Update and acquiring satellite

Hi Bob,
You need to do a complete reset by turning it on and at the same time press the bottom right hand corner of the screen this will reset it to factory condition. having done that when you switch it on again leave some where where it has a clear view of the sky and leave it for about 1/2 an hour. This should sort it out for you. Best of luck.

Brand new Garmin nuvi 755t won't power up.

i have had the same problem obviously. all i did was get a TORX TX5 screw driver and open up 2 screws. carefully lift off the cover(its just snapped in). Warning: battery and speaker are attached to the cover so do not pull the cover off or it will break the wire. carefully unplug the battery and leave it out for a 20 mins or so. plug it back in and it should power up and then connect it to internet, download webupdater and update. thats it and the problem is fixed.

(More) Basically, me and my wife had to pick up a friend 2 towns over. I jump into my car and input directions to her friends house. All of a sudden my GPS 755T is telling me that it is trying to update the firmware. I press ok. it displayed 1% said done and it couldn't find the Satellites. I was like WTH and turned it off and back on. It stated Cannot find Satellites. I was like ok, let me keep it on the charger 12V Cigarrette lighter. I thought it would start working while we drive and my wife was trying to turn it on but the screen went black and now I'm pissed because I just brought this thing. I went to Garmin's web page but there was nothing informative. I guessing something happened when this Firmware was trying to download into my unit. It must have killed something. It is now 10:27pm June 24th and I'm just surfing the net looking for similar experiences. now I know I'm not the only one. GARMIN WHAT HAPPENED????

Bluetooth enable

The complete solution - user reset is NOT necessary:

Whenever I purchase a new electronic device, the first thing I do is update the firmware. This has me in a bind in this case.

I updated my Nuvi firmware, then my BT firmware.

A few days later, I got the "Enabling Bluetooth" hang. I followed the advice on this page, but "Bluetooth Firmware Update" would not appear in the webupdate list.
