Soap not clearing compartment - again

Had this problem several months ago with the cascade packets, so I changed to the gel--this resolved the issue until two weeks ago.

Dishwasher runs a normal cycle and completes. When I open the door, the soap compartment is open, and there is undissolved soap both in the compartment and down the door, as well as on the silverware. I've checked for obstructions to the arms, and it looks clear. Have run both in "Normal" and "Light" modes with no change. Have moved dishes around to several configurations with same result. All thoughts are welcome!

I changed over to a different soap (Cascade Complete), which appears a little less thick in viscosity. Ran the washer twice more, and it worked fine. Not sure if this is a direct result of the change, but it works in the short term. Will address again if the issue appears later.

These dishwashers have had pump issues that causing this problem about low pressure circulation which will keep the powder from fully being used. So you'll likely need a new pump/motor assembly. Otherwise you can check the spring mechanism on the soap dispenser though usually it is a pump problem. Close the catch and release manually. You may find resistance or not opening. The spring mechanism may be slightly askew. Twist back a tad, close and release manually until it releases freely.
Let me know how this turns out.

You need to try Silica Gel Packets to dry out your phone. There was a good article on associatedcontent.com that explains how to dry a wet cell phone, iPods, or any electronics.

You need to place your cell phone in a zip lock bag with Silica Gel Packets. Silica Gel will remove all the moisture from the phone and its components, something air drying will not do!

Just Google "Silica Gel Packets" and you will find several companies selling these products. There is also a web site called: http://www.SilicaGelPackets.com that has them.

Recent changes in the law prevent soap makers from putting phosphates in dishwasher soap so they're not as effective as the were even a few months ago.  Unfortunately,  the solution is more thorough rinsing before loading.

I have the same problem. It isn't because of a long vacation, so if its still under warranty, call them out before they try to charge you an arm and a leg!

I called GE, they told me that it was Cascade's fault because they changed their formula to phosphate free and when I refilled the smart despenser, it congealed. When I called Cascade, they offered to send me a voucher for a free container of Cascade and they gave me a number to call GE saying that I wouldn't have to pay for the service call and that they would walk me through how to get it cleaned out. I then called GE and I was told by GE that I will have to pay the $100 for them to even come out and look at it because I have owned it for 14 months. (2 months past the warranty.)

I am still calling back and forth telling them both that I shouldn't have to pay for a service visit because I used the recommended Cascade detergent and it clogged it. Both of them are finger pointing.

I am in the process of trying to clean it out myself without taking it all apart, and its not looking like it will work. I had to get a wet vac and **** it all up, put water in, slosh it around by moving the door up and down, and by pushing a long straw in trying to break up the clotted detergent.

Good luck. If I find anything that will for sure get it cleaned up, I'll post it on here!

The detergent packet doesn't dissolve. The dishwasher seems to go through the cycles ... the dishes are wet. However I find the detergent packet in the bottom of the dishwasher.

Hello- Water flow, temperature, and pressure inside determine whether this little packet will dissolve.  Sump blockages or pump /motor weakness both effect amount water spraying inside. Some of these packets don't dissolve in time to enter wash water. Start by using powder or gel again. If it still leaves soap residue, other pump/motor issues exist. Let me know if this info helps- have more if needed. Thanks- ED

Dishwasher leaves soap in dispenser.

Hi Dirty Dish gang.
After having 2 appliance repairmen here, I now have the latest scoop on our dishwasher problems, $200 later!
Los Angeles IS currently having hard water issues. Also, all the new cleaning gels etc. are actually a cause of our dishwasher problems.
So, here is what we need to do:
1. Use Cascade POWDER detergent only.  Make sure is is just "plain" no "scented" or "complete"  or gel, etc. (I have tried a phosphate free powder and gel and this is a cause of our problem as well!) 2. Use Jet Dry in the dispenser (set it to a 2-3 opening) 3. Make sure water is at least 120 degrees 4. Only run dishwasher on "normal" setting.  All others just run it longer, hence causing more water stains. 5. Do not pre-wash dishes! You can knock of chunks with a "non" soapy brush, but don't rinse (the oils actually help to clean the dishes) 6.  Do not wash sponges in dishwasher.
Acid Wash: The repairman just gave my washer an Acid Wash today. It says it is an acid derived from lemon, I got mine from Carters appliance in Torrance, CA for about $19. I am to run a normal cycle with the above mentioned Cascade after this "acid cycle" is finished.
If you are still having problems:
Monthly maintenance: Glass Magic: Buy a box of Glass Magic (near the Cascade)  Use 1 Tbsb in main detergent compartment of dishwasher along with the Cascade, till washer starts working again. White Vinegar: You can run an empty dishwasher with white vinegar once a month.  Fill a bowl with 2 cups vinegar and place on bottom rack.  Then run as a normal cycle...this allows vinegar to disperse slowly.
So far it seems to be working.  Good luck.

Soap Dispencer Doesn't Always Open

We are having the same issue with a new dishwasher. One solution is to leave the soap dispenser box open when you close the door. This will at least get soap in the washer.
