Question about Bell Lands Phones

Can't receive calls on landline due to water issue

I had a minor flood in my basement which got to a phone jack near the floor. Wasn't able to call out without a lot of static initially but that has rectified however I still cannot receive incoming calls. When the line connects there is quite a bit of static. It rings once and then nothing until the call is dropped approximately 11 seconds later. I was hoping when everything dried it would be ok? Can anyone offer some advice? I have a feeling this will be a costly venture.

Yes, the wiring might be fine, but the terminations and jacks that got wet will surely need to be replaced.

If you redo the affected terminals/jacks, it might be fine, but nothing is 100%

Replace the jumper cable between the wall jack and the phone. You've probably installed a "roll over" cable by accident.

Most alarm panels connect to the phone line near the "demarcation" where it comes into the house. You should see an RJ-31X phone jack there with an 8 wire modular plug. Unplug it and that should stop the dial out.

Check to see if you "minor" flooding watered a jack or you have a cable lying in the water or got wet. Examine the pins on each jack and cord. Or, as an alternative if you can unplug all but the main phone from the jacks (assuming there are modular jacks for each extension) then plug them in one at a time until the problem comes back, you may be able to pinpoint the bad cable run.

Water leaks past the water pump filter gasket reseating the filter does not stop the leaking lg tromm Front Loading Washer

I regularly clean my filter of slime and debris (after not even realizing this needed to be done and having my pump give out of me). TWICE I have awoken to a flooded basement due to leaks in the filter area:

The first time, the plastic stopper was not in the small rubber drain hose properly and had popped off.

The second time, I had cleaned the gasket, inserted it tightly like I always do, and awoke to another flood! I thought perhaps the rubber gasket on the filter was on wrong, but it was fine. I inserted it tightly several times and water still poured out! It turns out there was a small stone lodged in the thread of the receiving end of the filter causing there to be a bad seal. Lesson learned. Another $2000.00 worth of flooring ruined.
