Question about HP Pavilion F1503 15" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

CANNOT REMOVE THE OSD MAIN MENU FROM MONITOR SCREEN

THE OSD MAIN MENU AND SUBMENU IS DISPLAYED ON MY HP PAVILLION F1503 MONITOR FOR WHICH I CANNOT REMOVE. WHEN USING THE MOUSE THE CURSER GOES BEHIND THE OSD MENU NOT ALLOWING ME TO CHOOSE AN OPTION SUCH AS "EXIT" .

IF I SELCET THE AUTO/SELECT BUTTON THE ITEMS IN THE MENU ARE HIGHLIGHTED INDIVIDUALLY IN A FAST MOTION STARTING FROM FROM TOP TO BOTOM.

CAN THIS OSD SCREEN BE HARMFUL TO THE COMPUTER ?

ANY HELP ONE CAN PROVIDE TO REMOVE THE OSD SCREEN WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

The solution offered above was very helpful and thank you.

Now my next question is can you tell me how you go about replacing a faulty switch in the menu button ? Is this something I can do and if so how or does it have to be by a professional ?

Hi,
The problem of OSD Menus popping up automatically are usually caused due to a faulty switch in the Menu button which is getting switched on automatically.

This menu will not harm the computer but constant OSD menu will most probably lead to permanent damage to the pixels in the LCD screen plus it is a constant irritation to your eyes which are most precious.

This problem can be rectified by replacing the faulty menu switch. Hope this solves your problem Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback.

You should definitely refer the servicing to a qualified repair personnel because there are a lot of delicate and sensitive parts inside your monitor and the problem could become worse or you can cause some other serious damage if it is not handled carefully. Also, it requires great skill and speciallised equipments to open and then successfully re-assemble the monitor.

To a trained technician, the present problem is a very minor one and should be rectified easily.
Hope I have helped you. Thanks.

Osd lockout? How do I get the on screen display unlocked?

OSD Lockout prevents changes being made to the monitor through the use of the front panel buttons. When the OSD is locked, pressing a button from front panel displays OSD Lock-out for about 10 seconds. You can quickly remove the OSD Lockout message by pressing a front panel button again. To unlock the OSD, press and hold the Menu button until the Main menu displays, about 10 seconds. To lock the OSD, press and hold the Menu button until an OSD-Lockout message displays, about 10 seconds.

This is from the user manual for the monitor. You can download a copy from hp here:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=324216&os=228&lang=en&

Click on the "monitor user's guide" link to download.

There are four adjustable options on the OSD settings screen: Lock OSD settings, Timeout, H Position, and V Position.
To change OSD settings:
1 Open the OSD setting screen under the Advanced menu. See
“Using the On Screen Display” on page 25.
2 Press the Browse buttons to select the option you want to adjust.
3 Press the Select button to check the option.
To change OSD lock setting:
1 Press the Browse button to select yes (lock) or no (unlock). The
setting is automatically saved when you change the value.
2 Choose Exit sub-menu and press the Select button to return to
the OSD Main Menu or press the Menu button to exit OSD.
NOTE: Once OSD is locked, all OSD functions including the
shortcut buttons are disabled. If OSD is locked, pressing
any button on the monitor directly opens the Lock OSD
settings window so that you can unlock OSD.
