Need to replace trigger lock. It appears that I will need to tear down the saw down.

Hi Bob:
Looks like you've got a nice little "rainy day" project.
Chain saws are notoriously friendly to work on.
I'd start by taking the bar, chain, and associated plates off, then giving it a really good clean. Solvent and compressed air do a great job.
- next step is to remove air filter cover so you can see the carb.
- follow the linkage back to where it disappears into the trigger assembly in the handle.
- a couple of screws will split the handle and reveal the trigger and lock.
Excellent project!

I have a 46 cc with an 18" bar. The first few times I used the saw it worked fine. Now I am up to the 5th use and once started the blade spins and the saw runs as if you are giving it full gas. ...

If this is a new saw and you have only used it a few time it may still be under warranty. Saw sometimes carry up to 1 year warranty on some applications(what you use it for-home-owner or commercial). If the saw is out of warranty it sounds like you have a problem with the rod alignment (actually it's a stiff wire) but it seems that it may be holding the throttle valve open. Check the trigger action to see if is actually smooth and not binding. When you squeeze and release the trigger the saw should stop. If it does not you must find where it is binding. Look under the carburetor and check the action there. Squeeze and release that trigger until you see something either binding or out of the ordinary in the action. When you release the trigger the saw should stop. Have fun. Then get back to work!

Ts410 stihl saw stopped working

Starting procedure for Stihl.
(cold starting)

Place cutoff saw on floor (flat clear surface).
Hold throttle in, while pushing on switch all the way down.
Hold cutoff saw firmly.
Pull starter handle until saw fires, it should then cut out.
Click the starter switch up 1 click to half choke.
Pull starter handle again until cutoff saw fires up. note: it will be reving because the trigger is loched on, (blip the throttle once) and it should go to tick over.

There should be np need to keep playing with the choke when the saw is warm. No need to lock the trigger when starting warm..

Erratic starting circular saw

Sounds to me like you have a bad cord. Clamp the saw to a workbench so that it can start and run safely without you having to hold it. Put tape or a wire tie around the trigger to hold it in. THEN plug it in. Then move the cord around, especially near where it enters the saw. If the saw starts and stops intermittently you have confirmed the bad cord. Good luck.

My jig saw will not run when i pull the trigger. sometimes it works when i shake it. the cord seems to be in good shape. it just doing it out of the blue

Sounds like you need a new trigger. Open up the handle, and check if you have power to the trigger. If you put a jumper wire to both sides of trigger,it will tell you if it's the trigger. If that dosn't solve the problem you have a break in the cord.

Saw seems dead, after 8 - 12 trigger pulls the saws turns on (sometimes) but after you release trigger its dead again???

You should check the brushes and cord first but it sounds like your trigger is shot, not an uncommon failure for this tool. With the cord plugged in, hold the trigger on in one hand and bend the cord around in several placed, especially near the boot and push and pull it in the tool. If it comes on, replace the cord. If the it doesn't react to this, check the brushes. Without knowing which model you have, they should be at least 1/4" long, evenly worn and shiney, not burnt, where they touch the armature. If these check out you need a new switch.

Saw runs while tilted to left but stops when tilted to right while trigger held in on position. Does this sound like a bad switch or bad brushes?

I am thinking a broken wire in the cord. what you can do and be careful is hold saw and while running "wiggle" the cord especially up at the cord protector end, It might also be a loose wire in the tool, but before disassembling UNPLUG tool.

Saw stopped working during a job How to troublwshoot a trigger switch on circular saw

when you pull the trigger switch it should "click" when engaged.. if you don't hear a "click" then you have to replace the trigger.... If it does click then it could be brushes, or a short in the cord.

Wen electric chain saw -is it doa?

Are you pressing the trigger lock with your thumb before you pull the trigger? That's a safety feature to prevent accidental sawing.

There's not a sensor for the oil, but you don't want to run the saw dry. It takes a special bar/chain oil which is thicker than motor oil.

FYI... if you look for a manual on the web, search for "Wagner chainsaw" because Wagner bought the chainsaw business from Wen.
