Question about Sewing Machines

My workshop was moved and papers were misplaced. I need to change the blade on my Ryobi scroll saw. My husband removed all the screws before I was aware and I can't remember how everything goes back.

You can get your manual for this saw on the following website link which is all you should need for figuring out where everything goes. http://www.ryobitools.com/product_manual/file_url/119/SC164VS_046_eng.pdf
If you are still having trouble, let me know, possibly post a picture of what you are stuck on, so I have a clearer understanding. Let me know how this turns out otherwise.

How to change cutting blades

Only the upper blade usually needs changing. You need to disengage it then loosen the small screw to remove. Note exactly how it sits before loosening as the new blade will have to go back in the same position,

How can I do adjustment of cutting width elna overlock machine

to change how much fabric is cut you need to move the cutting blade either left or right, this overlocker is one of the first so I think this process was pretty manual, ie using a screw driver to release and reposition the right hand blade.

it may be worthwhile buying a manual for this while you still can get them, this model was released back in 1987 in UK. Instruction Manual Elna L1 Serger

The timing is out and was wondering how to fix it

Because the timing has been changed it will need to have a repairman fix it. Another possibility is to go to youtube timing sewing machines.

How to separate cover on singer 7442

It's likely that you can get the cover above the needle shaft off -- they're often separate. If so, there will be a white disk in the side and one in the back that can be popped of using a screwdriver blade on one side. They each cover a screw that you then remove, and you can see the tension assembly and thread path. Often, there are threads wrapped around one of those things inside. If not, you can remove the hand wheel. If it has a similar white disk in the center, you can pop that off and remove the screw underneath. If there is no screw, then it's a force fit. Squeeze the wheel with your hand while rocking it until it comes off.

If you need to remove the covers, remove the back one first.

I have a Singer Ultarlock 14U34 and need to know how to adjust the stitch width.

You can download a manual from this link
http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/664_14u34b,234b.pdf

Check page 16, changing the seam width is done by moving the cutting blade left or right and using only one needle. So if you want the narrowest seam, use the right needle only, remove the left one, and move the blade as far left as you can. Your manual says to turn machine off at the wall for safety, many overlockers will have a motor cutout when you open the front covers, but its good practice to turn off too. Then you put pressure against the upper moveable blade and swing it up out of the way and make adjustment to the lower fixed blade with a screwdriver in your kit (some overlockers it is a knob you move to move the blade position).

And reverse for a wide stitch, use left needle for 3 thread wide seam, and move the blade far right.

You can also use the 4 thread seam where you use both needles and trim up narrow but the seam will be heavier than a three thread.

Each time you make changes to the amount of fabric being trimmed, you may need to finess the upper and lower looper tensions to ensure the seam is tensioned enough to just meet on the cut edge of the fabric. This is the norm for overlockers, each fabric will behave a little differently so you need to test stitch and adjust a little. Your manual will explain this process too.
