Question about Dell 5100cn Laser Printer

I am having constant paper jams. All are caused by "crinkled at the top" paper. Are there rollers I could replace, or the drawer?

I am having the same problem I can't seem to get the MPF (manual paper feeder) to work either, the paper in the bottom tray is getting picked up but just as your post states it "crinkled at the top" sometimes there is a small 1/4 inch tear just to the left of the paper that was picked up. Any help in this matter would be nice!

Well first try using straight paper?
if not the picture you are trying to print may have too many colours in it causing the ink to stick to the rollers?

What would cause paper jams in a hp 4100 printer

Where is it jamming. Printer this age could have fuser issues, worn rollers that are not picking up properly. Is the jammed paper crinkled up or does the printer stop before damaging the paper? If paper is not damaged, the cause is usually in the paper pickup slipping and causing the printer to think that the paper is either too long or too short. Clean all the rollers in the paper tray cavity with a damp cloth.

Having constant paper jams - the paper does feed and the document prints about 3/4 of the page, but crinkles up before exiting the printer, like the slit where the paper is supposed to come out after...

If the paper is jamming at the exit rollers, you will be need to clean the rubber on the rollers. It gets shiny and does not grip the paper to take it away.
I clean the rollers with Isopropyl Alcohol and the green kitchenlb_icon1.png scouring pads. When the rollers are shiny they often have white/grey markings on them. Keep scrubbing until rubber is roughened up.

Have an HP LJM9050 MFP printer. Getting almost constant jam in transfer roller and any successful prints have a crease. We were told by a tech that the issue is the paper we are using. We use Staples...

It is better to try with good brand printing paper as the lower thickness of the paper will only make the paper crinkle within the roller as it will BITE into the roller and be pulled into with different tension.
So test with another brand to confirm. If not the roller alignment must be checked.

The paper does not feed correctly so that the paper goes into the machine crooked causing a paper jam.

When the paper does not feed straight, dirty or stickyrollers can cause it to jamb or crinkle, also failure to remove all traces ofpaper from a previous paper jamb will cause further paper jambs.
Check for tiny pieces of at the edges of the rollers, and remove these piecesof paper. The rollers may be dirty or sticky and causes the paper tonot feed straight.
Try cleaning the rollers with methylated spirits.

After clearing a paper jam, it now jams everytime I use it and crinkles the paper.

for this model, the drum unit have to be cleaned and free from dirt and toner.. and the common problem is the eject roller...they are located at the top of the printer, the long black roller with few hard rubber roller.. once this roller is harden, it will give paper jam problem..and the paper will crumble each time you print....especially when the printer have printed many pages... you will need to send it to the tech to replace the eject roller.

When printing paper comes out all "crinkled" maybe roller problem?

It the paper comes out crinkled or accordion looking then it is your fuser. Check where your the paper comes out of. There might be a piece of paper jammed in there that is causing this. If no obstuctions then it might be the roller on the fuser cracking and cause it to crinkle the paper. The fuser is the last thing the paper goes through before coming out. It "fuses" the toner to the paper.

Ricoh CL 7100 fuser jam.

The grinding noise is the clashing of gears. The fuser is composed of 2 rollers, a metal or ceramic with a heater inside (bulb) and a silicon roller to apply pressure. The 'hot' roller is geared and the silicon roller can be geared or free floating. There is at least 1 paper sensor in the the fuser to let the unit know whether paper is there and there when it should or should not be. Sometimes, the sensor gets slightly dislodged and can actually cause a jam. If you are hearing a gear clash, the paper is being pushed through the machine and instead of being pushed through the fuser, it stops because the fuser rollers are not turning. The rest of the machine keeps pushing, crinkling the paper.
If there is crinkling, then gears that drive the fuser need to be checked. It is this gear cluster and/or the fuser that need to be replaced.

PAPER CRINKLING

First check the paper path for something in the paper path. Staple, paper clip, etc, causing the paper to twist. Reseat the imaging unit and see if the transfer unit is seated properly.
But, What sounds most likely is that the fuser needs to be replaced. The rollers are most likely getting pretty bad inside that unit.
If I recall correctly, it is in the $200 range to replace.
