Re: lost manuel

Try removing the brush cartridge from the steamcleaner, and then put the end of a flat screwdriver into the square hole in which the cartridge connects to. Spin the screwdriver clockwise or counterclockwise if possible; if you can't, keep trying. Mine became jammed-up somehow, but doing this solved the problem and now the brushes spin again.

Re: lost manuel

More likely your belt is broke or there is something stuck in the brush that is preventing it from spinning.
The site that has your manual is:
go here and put in the model number and you'll see what you want.

Above is the link to all hoovers owner manuals, you just have to pick your exact model from the list.

As for the brush not spinning in most cases the belt gets burned through when something snags it. In this case you just open up the housing by removing the phillips screws and changing the belt. Walmart carries Hoover belts (generic) 2 belts in a pack for $2.24, You can't beat that.

If there is a separate motor for the brushes as apposed to the belt type drives, Check to see if there is power going to the brush motor using a Volt meter. If power(120 volts ac) is reaching the motor and it still dose not spin the motor is burned out or the brushes in the motor need to be replaced.

And in some models I've seen the brushes are driven by a turbo powered by the vacuum pressure generated by the vacuum it's self. In this case dis-assemble the head and look for a foriegn object lodged in the turbo or mechanism somewhere.

I hope you found this information of some use. If you need further assistance feel free to contact me directly. I love helping people. This is one of my favorite sites.

Thank You, George

The little brush on the front right stopped spinning around. there is nothing wrapped around it - it's clean so I don't know why it stopped working.

Not knowing what vacuum you are using, the most common reason the brush roll doesn't turn is because the belt has lost elasticity. Try replacing the belt.

My Bissell powerforce bagless turbo roller will not stop spinning. What disengages the roller?

Hi Hiram. The brush will continue to spin when you're using the upholstery hose. You may want to set your height adjustment to the highest setting and leave the handle locked in the upright position.

The spin bar under the vaccum is not spinning anymore.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the problem you're having with your DC07. Please note the brushbar will not rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've used the brush control to turn it off.

To check the brush control is set to the correct position, please refer to the user manual supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have yours to hand, here is an online copy:

If you have the cleaner reclined in the vacuuming position with the brush control set to 'ON', and the brushbar is still not turning, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting steps over the phone, and provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Where is the red lint filter that is described in your troubleshooting for lost suction??

It is on the bottom, close to the spinning brushes. It is the red plastic pushed down into the input of the vacum turbine tunnel that utilizes the vacum from the water collection tank to spin the brushes. Make sure that the stem of the master brush is not broken off, after pulling up and out to remove the brush holding container.

Brush won't turn after trying to clean it

Check belt, make sure that brush can turn by holding each end in both hands and spinning it. If binding then you need to carefully disassemble it over a towel in case there are any spacers or washers that may get lost. Remove hair or whatever debris may be wound up between the ends of brush roll. Reassemble. Do not apply grease or oil to brush roll as it could cause it to ruin carpets.

Help. The brushes on my Steam Vac Spin Scrub

If you don't have the user's manual for the machine, here it is:

Check your system for any obstructions that could possibly causing the problem. Also, remove the brushes and see if there's a problem between the brushes and the motor.
