Question about Motorola XU2100 (1 Channel) 2-Way Radio
I run a small security team at my church. One of our XU2100's takes a full charge, but will not receive or transmit in stand alone or using the earpiece mic. Before I can go to the controller for repair money, I need a better idea of what may be wrong and what it might cost. Any ideas?
It is possible the radio has been changed to another frequency or PL code. Check the numbers in the upper right corner as you turn the radio on. The first number will be the frequency, the second number the PL code. (If both numbers are the same you will not notice them changing other than the word freq disappears.) If these numbers differ from your working radios, then your radio simply needs programming. If you need help walking through programming, simply call our office at 800-872-2627, one of the ladies will be happy to walk you through programming the radio over the phone. (This saves a lengthy explanation here on FixYa.) The second thing to check would be to try another battery in the radio. Just take one from one of your known good radios and try it in this one. Anything past these two potential problems would need to be looked at by a technician. This style radio is typically repairable. You can expect to find a flat-rate of approx. $69.
