Question about Televison & Video
I use the remote to switch on. The TV clicks for ages as if it is trying to switch on, it eventually does, but this is getting to be a pest. Have changed the remote batteries - still doing it. However, when the set has been on for some time and I switch it off using the remote, I can switch it back on again immediately without all the clicking. What could be wrong as this problem is driving me nuts !!!
Your unit cycles/ticks with first power up but seems to work fine after it warms up. This strongly suggests there's a dried up/partially blown filter capacitor (electrolytic) at the main power supply section or somewhere else (this may be the main filter capacitor - the big one), or possibly a faulty solder connection on one of the capacitors or other components.
Check for any loose solder connections and resolder these. Also see if any of the electrolytic caps (aluminium cylinders with plastic foil wrap) have a deformed/blown out top, if there are any, they are most likely the cause, if you can't spot any, then you'll need a different approach, which includes voltage measuring, paralleling capacitors with good ones, or replacing them one by one until you've found the one that's causing trouble, but this can get somewhat time consuming.
These are just some of the possibilities, the problem may as well be somewhere else, but the behaviour of your TV set points to the causes i've mentioned above, and i really hope you can get it fixed...
