My Cuisinart DLC-8S Pro Custom Food Processor needs a detachable stem.

eReplacement Parts states that is the right part.

How about direct from Cuisinart Kathleen? Although strangely, they quote part DLC-839ATX-1 as the correct one. Could your processor NOT be a DLC-8S I wonder?

I have a Cuisinart DLC-8S TX Pro Custom 11 Cups Food Processor that I purchased in spring 2004 and used only sporadically. Last week, I burnt the motor by using it to make fondant. Big mistake. I take...

If you already have a lot of attachments for this model, I would purchase a used motor unit. I got a complete setup at a yard sale minus the work bowl cover for $3 as a spare, and often see them at thrift stores priced quite inexpensively. You could also check ebay. Motor units routinely go for less than $25 including shipping. I'm pretty sure most dcl-8 series motors will work with you bowl and attachments. I like the quality of the older units better than the newer ones. And if you watch ebay closely, you can pick up a lot of pieces really cheaply. Good Luck,

Need the instruction manual for a cuisinart dlc-8 plus.

http://www.cuisinart.com/share/pdf/manuals/dlc-8s.pdf

Cuisinart.com also has the How-To video and a product demo if either of those things help. Just go to the home page and search under Entire Site for DLC-8S.

Whoops, when putting together I failed to insert the feeder cup.  When I did that it worked!  I should have more carefully followed the assembly instructions.  Thanks for your help.  What a great web site

Machine on but not working

The video is generic, and may actually show a different model with completely different assembly instructions. For the DLC-8S and DFP-11 series, you want work bowl handle facing the front of the processor, feed tube on lid facing back of the processor, and sliding lock switch facing the front of the machine. For the DLC-2011, you want work bowl handle facing front, lid lined up with work bowl handle, and metal element hanging from pusher facing front.

To make sure the motor is working first, remove the work bowl, blade, etc. completely from the base of the food processor. Plug the base in and turn the food processor on. Then use a pen to press in the dark gray or black button on top of the processor - if it makes a sound, your motor is good. If it doesn't, call Cuisinart and get your processor repaired.

Good luck!

Cuisinart DLC- 8M

Those older Cuisinart food processors have motors that generally last forever. But a replacement bowl can cost $118.00 or more. The newer processors like the DLC-8S do have a 3-year general warranty and a 5-year motor warranty. The new DLC-2011, 2007, 2014 series etc. have 10-year motor warranties. I like the collect the oldies, but the new ones have few problems even though they are made in China. If an old processor's plastic breaks, you have to buy a completely new bowl set - if a new processor's plastic breaks, then you can buy a single component piece to solve the problem. Hope this helps.

You can get a completely new work bowl set (not the original parts) from Cuisinart for around $118.00. You could also buy one from a shady eBay seller and see if the oldie works. I am a collector of these myself, but in reality, it is probably cheaper to get a new Cuisinart food processor - they are nearly as good as the old ones.
