Lasting plastic smell

Bought one few days ago. I ran water thru more than 10 times on day one, and the taste of plastic stay strong, second days I do three more water run, still the same - havent try to brew coffee yet.
The manual suggest just one time water run thru so is mine proline a defect one or the taste just stay for a long time?

Re: lasting plastic smell

Obviously, this should not be! First, we need to know if the coffee maker is working correctly. If you have a candy/oven thermometer, check the output temp of the water. Be will be hot! The correct temp should be about 180-185 degrees. If it is hotter than that...return the machine. It has a defective thermostat.

What you can do about the taste: try taking some baking soda and mix it with the feed water. Use about 2 tablespoons in at least two cups of water. Then, add plain water. The baking soda can't hurt you but throw it away and clean the pot. Now, take some water and run it through. If the taste is gone...enjoy! If not, try another unit.

This is my second day with my machine, and after I brewed some tea.... it smelt and taste like plastic. Also after brewing when u pick up the machine it sounds like there's still water in it? What do I do?

Run several cups of just plan water through your B-40, The plastic taste and smell should disappear, And, there will always be about 8 oz. of water that will remain in your B-40 at all times, after first use !!!

How do I clean my B60 Keurig of scale

Empty the water...
start with half distilled water... half white vinegar...
just run it all day... take a break and let the vinegar work... it will be heated up in the main tank... then pushed out to all hoses and sensors etc.etc...

enpty the container... wash it out... fill it with filtered or distilled water and run that until you no longer taste/smell the vinegar...
consider buying a brita pitcher and use that water for your Keurig... I do... and my unit goes for a long long time before it needs a vinegar washing...

P.S. dont use C.L.R. :(
It tastes bad.

Kitchenaid 14-Cup has plastic, chemical taste

Run 1/4 cup vingar with a pot of water. The coffee is not finishing its cycle and some remains in the works. You may have to do this several times. Washing the carafe with ice and salt by swirling it around a few times until it sparkels clean. Last thing for a good cup of coffee is filtered water which will keep the unit cleaner too. :)

Strong plastic smell and taste on a new Keurig Platnum coffee mak

I had the same problem and I discovered that after running 3 resevoirs full of water through the machine at 192 degrees , it got rid of the plastic smell. Set the cup size at the largest size mug and then just open the lid and close it , hit brew and let it fill the cup. Dump the water in the sink and repeat until you go through at least 3 resevoirs. The smell should be gone by then.

Keurig new with burnt plastic smell

We had the same problem with the Keurig 2.0. We ran many cups of vinegar followed by water and it didn't fix the problem at all. The only fix was calling Keurig and they replaced the unit. We had a real nice 460. They replaced the unit with an inferior 350. Smaller reservoir, B&W screen and some missing menu options and different color trim. However, it works.

Coffee tastes like plastic!

We have had our DCC-1200 for 3 months. The plastic taste occurs about every 3rd pot, and it does NOT get better. We've wasted over a pound of coffee. Cuisinart says we are the only people in the world with the problem. Well, I guess not...

XP 2070 Won't Stop Beeping

Okay, I had the same problem, started beeping and lights flashing one day, unplugged it and it was okay for a few days then this started happening more often until the machine just beeped and blinked all the time and would not make espresso. When I called Krups customer service I was told it sound like a circuit board problem and to send it in, yes its under warranty but I have to pay shipping both ways, so I decided to check it out myself. So here is the bottom line and what worked for me, I removed the espresso screen (above coffee grounds holder, 1 phillips screw) and ran 4 tank fulls of descaler thru the machine. the hard part was getting it to pump thru the machine. I found if I ran water thru the hot water/steam nozzle first I could get it to run 1 or 2 cycles, I also found that by removing the water tank and turning the system on for a few seconds and running pump dry (not recommended) I could get it to cycle without blinking for a few turns. Ran the 4 tanks of descaler thru, then ran 4-5 tanks of water thru into a bowl until it ran thru clean. The machine is 4 months old and I was shocked at the amount of crud that came out. It now runs fine and no more blinking, If indeed this is the fix for this you would think someone at Krups would have a clue, but I guess there a useless a the owners manual for the xp2070.
Thanks and I hope this helps.

durabrand has no contacts outside china this is a unit made for and imported for walmart only walmart is the only contact ...... your problem is not anything you or walmart can do anything about the problem is the cheap plastic that is used , when it gets hot some people can taste and smell it and others cant . .. its getting more common in everthing that heats water .. personaly i would not drink anything from an appliance that puts a plastic taste in my water ..... if you move up in price the problem is reduced , better plastics are used , but your not going to get one for 10.00 ! "you get what you pay for " more now than ever .... good luck Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob
