Which VMware product for dual VISTA and XP Operating systems?

Hi, do you know which VM Ware software do I need to install on my VISTA Laptop (Vaio with 4Gb RAM, 32bit) in order to run XP Operating System? I tried installing MS Virtual PC 2007 but has no USB support.
1) Is it the VMWare ESXi or VMWare Server? Which one is the easiest to install/run for a novice who just wants to run a few XP programs, without downgrading or removing VISTA?
2) Is it easy to remove the Virtual drive that I created using Virtual PC 2007? I have already installed XP in the virtual drive - but without USB support it is not very useful.

Thanks, Nick

For vmware server u need licenses for installing and its not meant for a novice user also. the easiest way to do virtualisation is sun's VMBOX, which is relatively light than the others wich support vista also. here is link try it and feel it

How to run w7 with w8?

If you've installed win 7 in your system then you've to install another softwares to run another operating systems on single operating system. The Best I've used till now is "VMWare Workstaion" where VM stands for virtual machine. this can load almost tens of operating systems on single os. depending upon your RAM. After Installing this software you've to install win 8. so u can laod that os while operating in win 7 simultaneously.

Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7 and xp install?

You can download the Microsoft virtual machine or another VM system.
Like this:
http://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/virtualization/oraclevm/index.html?sckw=srch:virtual-machine&SC=srch:virtual-machine
After install make a virtual hard drive on your VM machine of at least10 gig. Then add your DVD/CD rom drive to the VM and put yourinstall CD/DVD in the drive. Set VM machine to boot from CD.Install on VM hard drive from within the VM machine, Type in KEY code,Bam! you now have a win xp VM!(Note: Games and stuff may not work in the VM as they do not use your video card but a virtual video card that is pretty limited!)

Hello there, usually when you want to install a virtual machine the first thing to do is determine if the virtual machine platform is compatible with the OS you are planning to install. I had similar problems with VM ware when i was trying to use it with vista and it was one error after the other.
Needless to say VM Ware is not so compatible with vista. If you really want to use a virtual machine for vista without hassles simply switch to Virtual Box from sun micro systems. You can download this for free from virtual box.org the system is straight forward, easy to use and has great support capability for vista OS.
Hope this support has been helpful?

Dual boot Windows and Solaris

Hi there.
The only way to dual boot XP and Solaris is to reinstall XP, but seeing as you don't want to uninstall XP the only other option would be to install a virtual machine on XP.
VMware Player is a great app to install Solaris as a virtual operating system, this gives you opertunity to use both operating systems at once!!!

Get VMware player here >>>>>>

see heres the thing when using VM-Ware, VM-Ware doesnt use drivers for your physical hardware, because it emulates the hardware that is seen in the hardware information of your system preferences.

So installing even drivers for the "emulated" hardware will not work, as VM-Ware uses its own drivers for the hardware, which are included with the VM-Ware Tools, if that doesnt seem to work, you may want to contact VM-Ware support, as they may have a better solutiuon.

Cannot run Fujifilm Software for FinePix with Windows Vista

1) If you right-click on the executable file, can you use the
"Compatibility" TAB to run it as an XP program?

2) Many XP device drivers will fail to install or execute properly
under windows VISTA, and I suspect it is the camera's USB
or Fire-wire (IEEE-1394) based device driver that is causing
the problem, not the main application.

Unfortunately there is NO easy solution for this,
except to get an upgraded software package (for Vista)
from the Camera Manufacturer.

3) There are also two possible work-around(s), but both require
some knowledge and software installation:

DUAL-BOOT
------------------
Install both Windows XP and Windows Vista on your
computer using two separate hard-drive partitions, and
a boot manager.

A partitioning tool like "Norton Partition Magic", formerly
"Power Quest" or "Acronis Tools" can be used to partition
the hard-drive non-distructively (your data is preserved):

a) Resize (shrink) the existing Windows partition.
b) Create a new partition for Windows XP (about 10 Gigs)
c) Install Windows XP-Pro onto the new partition,
d) Add both the XP and Vista partitions to the BOOT.INI
file on the boot drive.

Both windows XP and Vista do have multi-boot capability,
but the Windows XP boot manager may not recognize Vista,
in which case you may have to re-install or re-pair the Vista
installation. The Vista boot manager will recognize WinXP.

Running VISTA is generally a bad idea, because it is obscenely
slow and inefficient compared to XP, and because it is infected
Microsof't draconian and arrogant copy protection schemes,
known as DRM = Digital Rights Management.

Towards this end, Vista also insists that all installed multi-media
devices must be "Recording Industry" compliant and approved,
to make music and movie piracy more difficult. Many media
copying programs and CD-rippers will also refuse to run,
by design.

All this "Added Technology" is stealing your money, your
computer resources, your performance, and your right to
backup your media, at your expense, for the benefit of
the movie industry Mafia.

Use Vista only when you have to, boot to Windows XP for
most of your applications.

VIRTUAL MACHINE
-----------------------------
Both Microsoft and VM-ware (as well as others) make
a software product called a Virtual-PC, which allows you
to emulate multiple operating systems under windows,
including older windows, MAC and Linux.

VMWare is by far the best, the most reliable and the
most flexible, at about $200 US.

On vista i have vmware 6

Your Guest OS uses a Virtual VGA adaptor. As with a normal computer it needs drivers. This usually is installed through VMware Tools. (VMware tells your guest OS there are all kinds of virtual devices. They don't exist physically but need their drivers since VMware uses the virtual devices to handle the Host PCs physical devices.

In order to install VMware Tools, go to:
VM > Install VMWare Tools.

Remember that you need Administrator rights.

Need more help? See the link below:
[Installing VMware Tools]

This should do the trick, let me know if this solved your problem.
