Question about LG Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My LG drive states it'll read at 48x but when I'm uploading CD's into Itunes it's only 4x and very frustrating! Any idea how I increase the speed of the read? Regards, Tim.

That's not the CD ROM speed, but the speed of itunes regulating the read.

If there's an option in itunes to adjust it, then it can be done, otherwise no.

has nothing to do witht he harware though.

HELP MY COMPUTER WONT READ ANY CD'S EXCEPT A DVD,, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?? ANY HELP

hi

you have either one of these ..

5187-5619 = DVD-ROM/CD-RW combination drive - 48X CD-R write, 32X CD-RW rewrite, 48X CD-ROM read, 16X DVD-ROM read

EL436-69001 = 48X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW optical drive - 48X read, 32X read, 48X read, 16X max write speed

make sure you buy CDs or DVDs which are speed compatible to your optical drive or COMBO drive speeds

if you are busying compatible speed CD media, then take some compressed air (can) and clean the drive bay and inside the optical drive area, to dedust it .

go to this site and review all the related sites .. read carefully and try to figure out what the possibility (issue) is .

if ALL this fails, you may have to replace the DRIVE itself

i hope this helps

LG CRD 8482B Internal 48x CD-ROM Drive. Does not write have current driver but will not burn cd's

According to the LG website, this unit is a CD-ROM (Read Only Memory) which means it only reads CD's. You'll need a CD Writer (CD-R or CD-RW) in order to burn CD's.

I have a LG GE20 DVD Rewriter Is a DVD+RW disc a format that is editable and suitable for this unit?

The LG G20 DVD Rewriter is an advanced external burner that supports 'editable' Rewritable DVD+RW disk.
As a generic comment, not all writable/rewritable media are made equal and problem with branded & unbranded disks are not uncommon, so stick to brands that work for you for your specific unit!
The following is the advertised support for your unit, hope it helps:
Reading Rate DVD-R/-RW/-ROM 16x/13x/16x/16xSL/12xDL max. DVD-RAM 2x, 3x-5x, 6x-12x DVD-Video (CSS) 4,8x max. (Single/Dual Layer) DVD+R/+RW 16x/13x max./ 12xDL max. CD-R/RW/ROM 48x/40x/48x max. How do i increase my dvd rw drive speed

Not all "blank" disks are alike.
Some support only '4X' or '8X' writing-speed.
So, buy blank disks that support '48X' writing-speed.

Not all DVD-writers are alike.
Some support only '4X' or '8X' writing-speed.
Upgrade to a DVD-writer that supports '16X' or '32X' writing-speed.

Not all USB ports are alike.
USB 1.1 ports support 11Mbits/second,
while USB 2.0 ports are about 10 times as fast.
Check that your USB device is connected to a USB 2.0 port, not a USB 1.1 port.

Unable to identify certain cds

Older drive trying to "identify" discs burnt with newer drives. The formula of CD-Rs has changed a bit over the years, and perhaps that disc burnt at 48X can't be read by your 4X drive. Happens all the time.

No read no write

One possible source of difficulty is there are different blanks for "slow" recorders (1x - 4x), "high speed" recorders (4x-10x), "ultra speed" recorders (12x-24x), and "ultra speed +" recorders. The disc manufacturers had to change the way the discs were made to accommodate each successive improvement, so older recorders don't work with the newer disks.
It is possible for some 4x-capable "slow" drives to use the "fast" blanks with a firmware upgrade, but there is no advantage to doing so since you're still limited to 4x recording (unless, of course, you're unable to find "slow" CD-RW blanks).
CD-RW discs for the faster drives are labeled with a "High Speed", "Ultra Speed", or "Ultra Speed +" logos. Make sure you buy the right blanks for your drive.

Pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....
