Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

Kenmore fridge not get cold enough and coils icing again

I have a kenmore refrigerator 106.59589990.
Repair guy put in also a new thermostat don't ask me what model it is, but I am thinking it is the wrong one since the defrost timer he charged me $145 was wrong (he put in a 1/3 hp max 10 amp) when mine calls for a 1/2 hp 15 amp.

I went to Sears bought the correct defrost timer and installed it. The defrost heater turned on right away. I could see it working.

Now the frige coils are icing up again. It is colder making ice slowly. Maybe a tray every 5 hours..

Could it be he also put in the wrong thermostat or could it be the defrost thermostat or maybe the fact the **** told me he took off the coil to defrost it and it needs a freon charge? Please help!

Ok coil is clean (had a cob job done originally) $160 bucks.. Was another incomp idiot. Had no vacum, no coil brush, had to use my vacum.

I put in a new defrost timer from sears the other day.
Just making me wonder if the thermostat he put in is compatible with my fridge.

Heater coil looks fine. Wonder why after changing timer its getting frost again? Low refrigerant?

I think my defrost timer is on the upper front panel fridge side all coils are clean. Took apart inside freezer panel. Used hairdryer to defrost coil didn't seem that frozen. 1/2 way up with frost. Not sure if this kid did indeed take off the coil, like he said. Hmm I'll give it time and see if it cools down

Check all heaters on frezer side and check coil under unit to make sure clean ajust timer at the top of icebox side behind plastic plate where light bulb is it shold be onthe right side top turn until unit turns off then turn one half this is the timer for defrosting cycle.

Freezer is not cold enough to make ice and all the contents are dethawing. Fridge is also not cold enough to keep things as cool as they should be

Seems like a defrost problem. Pull back panel and check frost pattern, if completely frosted,Turn the defrost timer (behind the kick panel in front, or mounted on the back panel) till the fridge goes into defrost. If defrost heater now gets red, replace the defrost timer, if not remove the defrost thermostat clipped to the evaporator coil, and check for continuity while still cold.

sounds like the problem is the cold control . I would clean the coils under neath and make sure the fans 's are both going . and then replace the cold control .. this will probably correct the problem .. ****

Ice melted and fridge not cold enough kenmore 363.50622000

Several things possible - fan in freezer side not running, defrost thermostat not working, if fan runs and cuts off & on, then the defrost heater strip could be out, but check the defrost timer under fridge; not cycling, you can manually turn to see if fan cuts off and on. If you have "ice shelf" in coils on freezer side then no air circulates in freezer and over into refrigerator side.

Fridge/freezer cooling inefficiently

Either the repair guy did not wire up the heater correctly or he replaced the wrong part, if the heater was good it was likley to be the defrost thermostat...I would call the repair guy back to check.

Fridge not cold enough, but running it seems

Sounds like coolant is low in the system. Most fridges use a sealed system with refridgerant.
You may be able to have a sears guy or some other applicance house call repairman come and recharge it.

Also.. check that there is enough clearance around the fridge and that dust isn't clogging up the heat transfer pipes (that grid on the back.. or below the fridge) These guys need a lot of airflow to remove heat.

Freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.
