You can secure your wi fi netwrok with 2 method
(1) configure your router as WEP'
(2) Enable MAC addreses security.

You can access your router with following default link.

http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1

for belkin router
http://192.168.2.1

type user name as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"

For WEP security.
Configure router as WEP type .
Then go to security then add encryption key it is your password to connect wi fi netwrok.

For MAC security
go to advanced security in wi fi then enable MAC security then add your MAC addreses in allow list with which you want to give permission wi fi netwrok access.

You can find MAC addreses of computer with following command .

Go to start menu then type "cmd" in run then you see command prompy.then type in prompt "ipconfig /all"

Hi, ADSL2+Wireless Modem Router was set up, it was good, but without the yellow cable, it was not connect to net why? Thanks, looking forward of your reply.

Because you need to match the security setting on the wireless router to sign on to the wireless portion of the modem. If you flip it over, you should see a sticker with WEP on it- write that down, view available wireless networks, and enter in the key from the sticker when prompted- at that point you should be able to use the wireless portion of the modem

Welcome to Fixya.

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to put a Password or Security Key (Network Key) on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.0.1, the Default username is admin and the password is blank. Go to the Wireless Settings and set the security to WEP, WPA, or WPA2 under Security Mode you'll find the Network Key or Passphrase. You can alsoThen Personalize you Network Key or Passphrase so that you can easily remember it.

If i connect a pc that have wireless nic it search then an show limited connectivity

If you connect the computer to the router , it works.
That means the wired connection is OK.
Open the set up page of the router check the wireless settings of the router.
I think your network is secured and you are not typing the correct network key.
just open the router set up and check the wireless settings .
Make sure that the DHCP server on the router is enabled

I have a wireless laptop and my new router wants a pin number before ir conects were can i find the pin number my router is a linksys g wireless adsl2+gateway

pin number or password. the password for the router for administration is admin and admin.... for security you may wish to change them. the pin number is likely for connecting to a secure network. it may actually be on a label on your router or you need to sign into your router to obtain it. first you need to hook into the router with a network cable from your computer to the router. open a web browser and type 192.168.1.1 the hopefully the default password wasn't changed (or you know it) once you have signed in find the tab for wireless security. your code/pin should be in the second tab of the submenu
