My laptop will hang up at loading your personal settins

Laptop hang issues can be a frustrating issue for the user and a tedious problem for a technician.

The variety of causes for this event are staggering, but many can be diagnosed in a few simple steps.

Peripheral Issues

USB drives, inserted before boot, will cause a hang.

Remove all such devices and media (such as CDs and floppy disks) before booting your laptop.

Software Causes

Press "F8" at boot and press "Last Known Good Configuration" to take your laptop to a previous working boot. Starting your laptop in "Safe Mode" by pressing "F8" at boot will help

you check for software causes for a hanging laptop.

By turning off unnecessary processes, this mode allows you to run anti-spyware and antivirus software to clear malware that hinders performance.

Perform a check disk by right-clicking on your "C Drive" found in "My Computer."

At the "Properties" link, press the "Tools" tab to schedule error checking.

Reboot your laptop and let it perform this check.

Hardware Causes

Verify that your RAM is seated correctly by removing it carefully from under its access door on the bottom of your laptop and reinserting it.

Do not touch its gold contact points, as this may damage the memory.

Download the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic software to test the integrity of the hard disk.

If you have access, run a professional hardware diagnostic suite to check the motherboard and CPU.

Boot with the battery removed to verify that there is not an issue with power conflicts.

Final Considerations

Checking the "Event Viewer from Administrative Tools" located in "Control Panel" (XP only) can also shed light on potential causes.

Performing a repair installation of Windows can address missing files, registry errors and corrupted system files without damaging your data.

I let the HP asst. Install a bios update and the install is stuck at 40%. What can I do to get out of the update?

Turn on the computer and begin hitting the "F8" key when you see the BIOS screen.

This will take you to the Safe Mode menu.

Use the arrow keys to highlight "Safe Mode," then hit "Enter" on your keyboard.

This will boot your computer in Safe Mode, a minimalist manner of operating Windows that runs only essential Windows files.

If using Windows XP in Safe Mode, click the "Start" button and then click "Run." In the box that pops up, type "msconfig" and hit "Enter."

If using Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the Windows logo in the bottom left corner of the screen, type "msconfig" in the search field and then hit "Enter."

This will open the System Configuration Utility.

In the System Configuration Utility box, click the "Services" tab, check the box that reads, "Hide All Microsoft Services," click "Disable All" and then click "Apply."

In the System Configuration Utility box, click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and then click "Apply." Next, click the "Close" box.

A box will pop up that prompts you to restart your computer.

Select "Restart" and let the computer restart itself, allowing it to boot to Windows normally.

If the computer still stalls when trying to boot to Windows, restart the computer and boot to Safe Mode again.

Run your antivirus program in Safe Mode, deleting any files that are flagged as viruses, spyware or malware. Restart the computer and boot to Windows normally

hope this helps

Nokia3110c restart problam & what solution

It is possible that the phone has hung up because there are errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Copy only valid files to the card and do a scan before it is replaced. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up or is slow when it is switched ON , then it is possible that the fault is relative to the software and will need a reinstallation. Possible hardware issue cannot be ruled out.

I really need to recover files from my sandisk cruzer

Have you tried this? restart your computer and plug your USB in again(this helps to clean the buffer), see if you drive can be recognized.

If you still can't access the data inside, try this data recovery program Wondershare Data Recovery. Get the program here,

Windows Data Recovery (Windows Version)
Mac Data Recovery (Mac OS version)

Take care - Before those items are recovered, stop saving more files to the device in case the file data are overwritten!
