K-PEX 100 2GB not recognized by computer

I just experienced the same problem: will happily charge but would not connect to the computer(usb not working). I do not want to try reseting it - do not want to lose my data. Is there any other solution how to fix it? Please help.

Hi Lukem, no, I did not reinstal anything, but kpex worked fine before, I do not know what happened but it just started not being recognised by my comp(does not connect and automatically starts charging: before I had to opt for charging), maybe I did not disconnect it properly from my comp last time, cannot remember, I also tried other computers with the same result....
    Cheers

Resetting the KPEX does not erase the songs and items. My one (before it went bust!) freezes at times when viewing a large image while a song is playing. I then reset it and it just starts up normally without any data loss. I have done this about three times.
I had the 1GB however, try it at your own risk!

I had the same problem with mine. if you are using a usb hub u will have to plug it in to the system directly instead of the hub. By the way, the reset button only cuts off power suply to the device and will not do any damage to the files in the memory

How can Western Digital hard disk drives be recognized by third party USB external docking stations?

The format on a disk, will not be relevant of recognition via an USB connector. To connect a drive via USB, the computer must have the correct driver for the hardware you are connecting. Be sure you connect the HD coerce to the external harness and make sure it is supplied with the correct voltages.
When you connect a working system on the USB connector and the drive does not have a format, the computer will see that and ask you if it should format the drive.

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

My ipod not recognized by itunes in order to reinstall the software

Connections b> The USB cable must be securely connected both to the iPod and to the selected USB port on the computer. Reattach the cable at both ends, and click "Computer" in the start menu to see if the iPod is shown connected to the drive for that USB port. b> Drivers b> If the drivers of the computer responsible for the USB interface are out of date, malfunctioning or incorrectly installed, that may also cause the iPod to not be recognized by the computer. If this is the case, the device may not appear in iTunes and there may be an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. b> Software b> The latest version of iTunes is recommended to best communicate with the various models of iPod. Go to the iTunes website or click "Help" and "Check for Updates" in iTunes to install the most recent update. Further, the computer must be running Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 for PCs, or OS X v.10.4.11 or later for Macs. b> Battery b> The iPod's battery must have sufficient charge to be recognized in iTunes; charge it either via USB connection or another power source if the indicator shows a low battery. Once the battery has charged, try to connect the iPod to the computer via USB cable again.

My sony nwz-s638f is not charging if i put it in the plug how can i make it work?

Hi,

Please make sure that the Computer is recognizing the Walkman when connected to the USB port.

Make sure that you're using the supplied USB cable for connecting to the Computer.

If you use the portable player for the first time, if you have not used it for a long time, or the battery is depleted, it may take up to 5 minutes for it to be recognized or start charging. On models with a display, the display will remain blank. If it the portable player is not recognized or does not begin to charge after waiting 5 minutes, reset the player by pressing the reset button.

Disconnect the USB cable from the portable player and then reconnect.

Check the connection status again.

Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and then reconnect.

Check the connection status again.

Check for available space on the player using Windows Media Player or My Computer.

Restart the computer.

Check the connection status again.

Check that the USB cable is firmly connected to both the computer and the player.

Check the connection status again.

If the player is connected to a USB hub, disconnect it and connect it directly to the computer with a dedicated USB cable.

Check the connection status again.

If the player is still not recognized by the computer, disconnect all devices connected to the computer with a USB connection and restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, connect only the Walkman player and test the connection again.

If the player is still not charged by the computer, try a different USB port.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Camera will not upload photos to computer

Depending on the method you're using, this can usually be remedied in one of two ways:
  1. USB Cable: make sure your camera is turned off before connecting to the computer, and that the drivers for your camera have been loaded prior to connecting.
  2. Memory Card: SD or MMC card readers are becoming more std. on computers, or inexpensive card readers are available to connect via USB.
If you are experiencing difficulties with either of these, this may involve a problem with your USB port or the drivers your computer is using. Sometimes it's as simple as removing the driver which isn't working properly and re-installing it again. In most cases, you will need to install the driver without the USB device connected, so that after you have successfully loaded the driver, the computer will recognize your USB device properly.

Once again, make sure your camera is turned OFF when you connect it to your computer with the USB cable (of course, your computer needs to be turned on). Then, turn the camera on, and you should see the computer recognize the device.

I had the same problem this morning, albeit with my 8G Clip. Nothing worked -- the thing seemed dead as roadkill -- until I found a link about "forcing MSC mode." Basically, it told me to hold down the center button while plugging my Clip into my computer using my USB cable. Suddenly, boom! It's awake and alive and happy again. I'm unsure how that works, but that did it for me.

Photo Exploer Runtime Error

My solution:
I found another solution(workaround) instead of reinstalling the program:
1. Try to remember wich devices you used in de Photo explorer (USB-stick, external drive, DVD- CD-drive, or photo-camera connected by USB;
2. You can only start PEX(Photo Explorer) with a volume loaded in this devices!
3. if you don’t remember wich devices you used before, plug in a volume in every device your system has.
4. Start PEX. On my system it is then starting without error!
5. If PEX is normaly started: goto File/Preferences/ (or F6 key), take category Cache and under “History” clean all adresses and maps by clicking the button.
6. Close PEX. Remove all the volume’s you don’t need;
7. Restart PEX. Now the program will start without any error.
8. Advice: each time you use PEX with an external device do action 5. before closing the program.
