Samsung Weather Resistant Security Camera SSC-12C Logo
Posted on Nov 20, 2007

I have two samsung ssc-12c cameras.

The wiring was torn up by dog. Monitor dead. Need to know how to wire them myself so I can use them on an rca input monitor. I guess I need the pinouts? so I can identify the power and video wires so I don't fry it.

The attached pic should be from page 14 of the SSC17 pdf format owner's manual.

If it doesn't show try this link and look at page 14:

Anybody have any clue as to why these companies try to keep all of this so secret ? Forcing me to buy their cables, monitors, etc instead of being able to incorporate what I have is more likely to turn me away from their products altogether.

The color of the wires will depend on the manufacture of the cable you bought and should not be considered standard. Most of the time yes, it will be the same but there are times the colors are not standard.

Also just an fyi, if you have the 4 channel monitor/modulator that is typically sold with this cameras, you can open up the case and slide out the board a little to get access to the jacks. Looking at it from the bottom with the screen laying flat on the table from left to right Pin 2 is signal, Pin 3 is ground. You can solder an extension onto these pins and solder it to a bulkhead solder type male BNC jack. (signal to the center, and gnd to the outer) Drill a hole in the case and tighten down the BNC. You now have BNC outputs for each camera instead of being forced to use the RCA and the 4 channel modulator that is constantly rotating. I did this at work for our system that uses 6 of these 4 channel monitors/modulators. We wanted to use a PC based DVR to record all the cameras but needed BNC connections for each camera as we did not want to record the 4 channel rotation but each camera individually. Also this retains the use of the 2 way audio and the monitors are easier on the eyes and quicker to spot security issues. You will have to do this for each of the 4 channels. Ebay is a great source for the solder type bulkhead bnc's and then pick up some right angle female bnc to female bnc cables to hook it up to your DVR. Obviously skills with soldering and electronics is required for this, as is safety due to the high voltage of the electron gun inside the monitor.

You would need to send the video and audio output signals through a video modulator, in order to connect it up to a standard TV or VCR. You can get them at The Source or other video shops for around $25

We purchased a home with 4 samsung cameras in various places around the exterior. They are all wired back to the master bedroom with what looks to be CAt-5 cable. What do I need to make this system work??...

Hi there, depend on the model of your cameras, normally if there are samsung it should say the model # ( ssc-12c,soc-c120 and so on) What look like CAT-5 are normally RJ-11 very similar to a phone connector. If your cameras are one those mentioned above you will need a monitor that support that type of connection like the ssc12m or ssc-17webm if there are black and white or the SMT-190M if there are color cameras. or a DVR with similar connection type like the SHR-1041.

I have 3 outside cameras (SSC-12C) hooked up need cameras

i recommend pelco day night dome camera they are cheap and the resolution is great. they are originally bnc type connector which usually take rg59 or rg6 coax cable but if you have like cat5 or some other kind of stranded wire you can by a balum adaptor that takes stranded wire but has a bnc female end. now with your monitor they make a cheap device called a multiplexer it takes bnc connectors and to hook up to your monitor you can use regular adio video cables like for your vcr. the multiplexer also lets you scan thru your cameras one at a time or have all three up or it can scan thru by itself like every five minuets.

The green connectors are for PIR (passive infrared ) motion sensors to be connected, they have nothing to do with you recieving a signal from your cameras. Double check to make sure the camera jacks are securely connected on both ends (camera & monitor) , and then hit your AUTO button which should automatically cycle through your cameras if you are indeed getting a signal. If you arent, you have other issues. As to the monitor getting darker. You will need to adjust the brightness from day to night unless you have an alternate light source or IR(infrared) Illuminator for night viewing.

SSC-12c Cameras with SSC-17web monitor

That will happen with pretty much any camera on the planet.

I have a suggestion... use a slightly tinted glass on the enclosures, or get the 2% (or whichever one you think will be enough) tint film used on car windows, and put a square of it on the enclosure glass.

New fittings (terminations) should be available from your local electronics store. They would require crimping onto the cable or soldering although I have seen a variety that screws on.
