Re: Remote Problem

Try removing the batteries overnight to see if that resets the remote control. Other than that it's either a warranty call, or if you feel really brave, taking it to bits to see if the electrical contacts on the pad need cleaning.

Turn on Player
Using Remote Control open the Disk Tray (and leave open)
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Scroll To Preference using Left / Right Arrow keys (Just Highlight it do NOT select it)
Using Remote Control Press 1 3 8 9 3 1

Region Menu Screen Should Appear

Using Remote Control Select Desired Region Using Up / Down Arrow Keys (0 [Zero] For Region Free)

Hope this helps.

Subtitles always on

Hi - welcome to FixYa,

There are 2 methods for changing the subtitle settings on your DVD player.

Method 1.
To turn off the subtitles on your DVD player during playback:

1. Press the "SUBTITLE" button on your remote control
The subtitle button is just below the "0" (zero) numerical key on the remote control. It is marked "SUBTITLE" above the button and the button has "ABC" written inside a white rectangle on it.
2. Use the left "<" and right ">" arrow keys to change the subtitle setting
Each time you press an arrow key the subtitle language will change and eventually the language will read "OFF". The subtitles are now switched off during playback.

Method 2.
To turn disc subtitles off from the main menu:

1. Press the "MENU/LIST" button on your remote control (directly below "STOP")
The main menu will now appear
2. Press the down arrow key on your remote once to highlight "A" in the left hand column of the main menu
3. Press the right arrow key on your remote once to move to the right-hand column of the menu
4. Press the down arrow twice to highlight "Disc Subtitle"
5. Use the left and right arrow keys to change the subtitle options until your required choice is displayed
6. Once set, press the "MENU/LIST" button again to exit the menu.

This should solve your problem, but if you need any further assistance, please post back.

Wrong disc message displayed on screen for dvd-2026

I found these posts. I have only been able to get the fix to work once, though. :(
I found a "hack' to make mine work :)
1. Open the tray
2. Press "Setup": Menu Screen should appear
3. Press "8-8-8-8" ( if you changed the password, you might have to change it back to 8888 ) The region number should appear on upper right corner. No other notation. Typically just the numeral "1".
4. Use the right (->) or left (<-) arrow keys to change the region to 255 for all regions.
5. Use the up or down button to go to 3001 and 4000. I had to change 4000 to 4001 to get mine to work,
6. Press "Setup" to exit.
It was a big relief to find this hack, because I misplaced my receipt and thought I was simply out of $30.
Region code hack posted by jeff777, December 15 2004:
This works.

1) With remote control, power the DVD player on.
2) With remote control, open the DVD tray.
3) With remote control, select SETUP.
4) With remote control, press the VOLUME UP button, then the VOLUME DOWN button, then the VOLUME UP button again and finally the VOLUME DOWN button again.
5) You should now see a number 2 on your screen. If you do not, this hack will not work on your system or you have done something wrong. If you do see the number 2 on the screen, proceed to 6).
6) Use the LEFT and/or RIGHT arrow to select the number 255.
7) When you see the number 255, press the SELECT button.
8) Press the SETUP button again to end procedure.

Newer Sungale 2026 players are a bit easier to set up:

1. Open the tray

2. Press "Setup": Menu Screen should appear

3. Press "8-8-8-8" Region number should appear on upper right corner. No other notation. Typically just the numeral "1".

4. Use the right (->) or left (<-) arrow keys to change the region. "255" all region.

5. Press "Setup" to exit.

Tested Region 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 PAL and NTSC disks. They all work just fine on an older US NTSC TV. It's a little bigger than the Cyberhome, but works much better. There is no jerking at chapters with either factory or homemade discs. Plays VCDs just fine.

Sniff around the internet. This machine is availabe as of 5-18-05 for about $29 plus shipping ($11). Arrived in two days.

Other hack posted by Hurricane, January 23 2006:
If you do the Setup>8888 thing you get a region code 1-6 & 255.
Well if you press up and down on the directional pad you also get 3001 and 4001 these can be changed to 3000 and 4000, I know that one of them is a Macrovision on/off flag but I don't know what the other is.
