Sounds like you have the resolution to high.
Boot in safe mode to see if that works fine, if yes, then try default settings for the display driver. Continued use like this could damamge the display. If that does not fix it then return it where you purchased the unit.

This is usually due to your computer Video resolution being set to a setting out of the supported range of your monitor, Lowering the computer video resolution should solve this issue.

Out of range 64.0 KHz / 60 HZ

It might be because of wrong screen resolution. This problem can occur because of hardware as well as software change.

To rectify this issue you will have to set your screen resolution to lowest visual settings. For this purpose you can try restarting your PC to safe mode and then modify your screen resolution.

Sometimes setting your monitor to factory defaults can also rectify this issue.

I hope this would be of some help.

I have Compaq MV7500 17"

Your monitor is most likely faulty. This can be caused by a number of things, but most likely the screen is failing. I'm afraid that it will need to be replaced, as repairs are not really cost effective. You can confirm the monitor fault by trying it on a different machine.

Problem with compaq MV 520 monitor

Your monitor is operating normally. After Windows starts it is setting the video resolution to something outside of the monitor's range. That's why you see the Windows splash screen, then the message from the monitor about the settings. Most likely the computer was used before with a monitor that had a wider range of resolutions available.

Restart the computer. When the manufacturer's logo screen appears, press the F8 key three or four times. This should get you a startup menu screen. Pick the option of starting in VGA mode, and Windows will start with video settings that your monitor supports.
