Question about Bose Lifestyle 8 series II System

1 Answer

Bose Lifestyle 8 no display

I have a Bose Lifestyle 8 and though the system works fine, the display has suddenly stopped lighting up. Thought it might just be a loose cable or something, but doesnt seem to be. Have shut system down, turned off, turned back on...still nothing (for months now). Any help appreciated. Thanks

I had the same problem and Mark Burgess at helped me out, change the 4 capacitors in the lower board, lower left side and that will solve the issue.

Bose lifestyle plays for 5min shuts down

Do the easy troubleshooting first! Get a source of clean, dry compressed air and blow out the inside works. Next, get some contact spray and spray into the volume control potentiometer and work it down and up.

Bose Lifestyle 28 Sound Problem

I also get this problem sometimes with mine. Usually when you call Bose they suggest that you do a "hard" reset meaning you unplug the power cord from the wall and wait about one min. Then plug the unit back in and it should work.
The other thing that you can try if the system still isn't working is to check that all the wires running into and out of the sub-woofer are all plugged in and aren't loose.

If either of these two solutions don't work you can alway call Bose tech support @ 1-877-210-3782 (they are open Monday Friday: 8:30 AM 8:00 PM ET)

No display lights on bose lifestyle 8 home theatre. System works though.

Displays die quite often on receivers just one of those things that happens.

Bose is pretty good about repair cost and timely in their turnaround. Here is a link to the support page

I would guess a replacement display would run about $150 installed plus you will have to ship your unit to them.

They like to do "flat rate" service plans which is one of those 50/50 deals most of the time you are better off just paying for the repair versus dealing with a service contract but you will have to find out whats available for your model.

Hope that helps

Bose lifestyle 12 music center display inop

My display has not been working for years. Replaced c17 cap wich was 33uF 63 volts on lower pcb board( only one on system) . Old cap was good so this was not the problem. Replaced c16 wich was 100uF 25 volts with a 100uF 63volts. Display works, old cap read low. Both c17, and c16 are located on the lower left hand corner of the larger pcb looking from the front of the unit. Hope this helps.
