SOURCE: acer 5610z need to locate cmos battery for bios password reset

If you have forgotten your BIOS or system password, there are no software tricks or magical gimmicks that will get the password cleared. Laptops are different in that they are designed to not work with “backdoors” etc. for security reasons. There is one true way that works most of the time and that is hardware.
The Cmos (RTC) battery that is mounted on the motherboard in most cases holds the key, if your motherboard has the battery that is connected to the motherboard by using a two wire socket that plugs into the MOBO, then here is the procedure.
On the motherboard where the battery plugs into, you will see two pins sticking straight up, these engage the plug on the battery side. These two pins have to be “shorted” and then the motherboard powered up for approx. 30 seconds, then power down the system and replace the Cmos battery and reboot. Your password problem should be cleared up. The best way to “short” the pins is get another cmos battery and cut the wires from the battery part, bare the ends and twist together, this will short the pins. Make sure you tape the connection good on the jumper you just made….don’t want to touch anything else with powered up bare wires. Below is the link to your service manual that will point everything out to you. Good luck.

Need to replace the cmos battery and housing attached to mainboard toshiba satellite c55-b5299

OK! Here's a great start for you... it's a YOUTUBE tutorial for a TOSHIBA c55 Series...

At frame 2:26 note the SILVER DISK in the upper right hand corner! THAT is your CMOS battery and APPEARS to be a "CR2032"... but don't quote me on that. As he TILTS the laptop note the "shimmer reflection" from the shiny battery!

Frames 2:28 to 2:30... watch closely to the upper right.

Do your BEST to make sure your new replacement battery is FRESH and not one that has been on a shelf for two years or more.

While you are in there use a can of AIR SPRAY and a light duty brush to clean the FAN and the HEAT SINK under the fan too!

I hope this helps!

Needs to removed bios password on C55-a5249

I just discoverd this and i will brag on being the first. This is what you do. First remove battery and cmos battery. Remove one ram chip (Lower) and leave upper ram chip in.Use whatever you like to jump these solder points. While shorting solder points with power cord plugged in, turn on power and check. Worked for me first try. I AM THE KING!

Where is the cmos battery located on a toshiba satelite A105-s2131

There are several access panels on bottom of your laptop. These should have markings that designate what is behind each. CMOS battery can be either behind the hard drive panel or the memory card panel.

Alternatley, you can try this link to Tom's Hardware where someone is discussing how to do on a similar model. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/247842-30-replace-cmos-battery-toshiba-satellite

Toshiba doesn't show a user manual. Are you needing to know something about the laptop itself or about the operating system such as windows?
