That sounds like an injector pump problem and not the switch.

Have you checked the fuel pickup in the tank for blockage?

you may have some trash in your jets. running it for a few hours may have allowed particles in your fuel line to block a jet.

I have a Sears MTS 5500 tractor, 24 hp, 48" mower, bought new 2008 but used very little; only 127 hours on it. Soon after starting, tractor emits a heavy white smoke. Tried changing the oil, no help. The engine is B & S Extended Live Series, twin cylinders, total displacement .725 liters. Any ideas of what is causing this?

Bleed the lines while the unit is running making sure you get all the air out of the lines.

You may possibly need to adjust the overhead valves in the engine. Your owners manual should have the steps included in it (under maintenance) to do this. This is quite possibly the problem. The valves should be checked and adjusted once a season just to be sure.

I doubt that it is the fluid level...it's been a few years... but I seem to remember there being a couple at the front of the motor that ran the hydralic pump...I am wondering if your problem is not there...tthe hydralic pump sits under the fuel tank at the front of the tractor... check there to see if everything is working right there...of course it could be the pump its self that has gone bad...

Agree with with previous answer.
Check your fuel filter & make sure it's full of fuel,
usually the problem if the motor wont start after
running it out of fuel.

sounds like the fuel pump is bad or try cleaning the fuel filter and carbarator

You need to check spark plug wire to that cylinder I have had the same problem where a mouse ate insulation off wire ,Your engine has a coil with two wires one runs each cylinder I have had them go bad where only one fired you would need a new coil .
