    I have the same problem.

When i bought the jvc everio gz-mg57 cam from CURRYS (around a year ago) in the first 4months it started to display " remove lens cap ", even though it wasn't on.

So i went back to CURRYS and requested a refund or replacement, but "the best they could do for me was to repair it", I thought What the FCUK!!!

With no other solution i gave them it to repair (6weeks later) in time for my African safari holiday i collect it. You have to a safari it's fantastic.

    Guess what?......within 4months same problem.

Went back to CURRYS and they still fed me the same bull, but this time my warranty has run out BY A DAY!!! Now they say it will set me back £100. I paid almost £400 when the JVC everio gz-mg57e came out.

Anyway....Are there any DIY solutions i can apply?

Same problem with the everio GZ-MG30U HDD camera - any ideas?

I had the same problem - lense cap on - here is what I did to fix it: My husband took the lens cap off, placed the camera t in the sun for about an hour then flicked (not banged or beat - just a light tapping) and now its working. He said condensation, dust, etc may have made the lense stick. Good luck!

JVC GR-X5e camcorder, lens cap message. Does not show a picture.

It shows all menus, numbers and graphics on LCD, but seems like there's no picture coming through the lens. In both modes, video and still. It seems like it can not see anything as if the lens cap was on all the time.

Could this be a problem with sensor.. CCDs? Lens? Something else?

Display is black even after removing the lens cap

See my post of before. I just knocked the camera on the floor by mistake and it miraculously started working again after years. Shows it must be mechanical and not related to software.

Need help urgently!!! GR-D22 not recording. I have a JVC GR-D22 Digital Video Camera (about 3 yr. old). It had been working fine. But recently it did not work anymore. The LCD screen is on, but a black...

There is a good chance that the iris is stuck shut. Try tapping the side of the camera lightly to try and release it. If the camera can show you old pictures that are currently stored correctly, I would suspect the iris.

JVC has acknowledged a fault on their side that will cause certain models to display the "lens cap" error, and they offer free repairs, your model is also on the list. Here's a link to the JVC site : hope this helped ;]

No image through view finder or lcd monitor

JVC has acknowledged a fault on their side that will cause certain models to display the "lens cap" error, and they offer free repairs, unfortunately your model isn't on the list. You still might get some consideration, since there are plenty of models from the GR-D series listed. Here's a link to the JVC site : You're not alone though, it's a very common problem also with models that are not listed by JVC. I only heard of complaints by people that JVC refused to help, but it won't hurt trying, maybe they'll give in to public pressure eventually. Good luck
