Question about Westinghouse 22" Widescreen LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Westinghouse 22" Monitor requires me to press side power button

This is inconsistent, and the Monitor behavior after several times I press the power button on the right side of the screen, a "good" screen appears wirh the word D-Sub. The Monitor is then fine, until I either shut off the computer, or it goes on standby. Bringing up the screen then only gives me a white screen, until I go thrru the process of pessing the button on the lower right of the screen frame. I had this Monitor problem on my older HP Computer. And it followed me in my use of my new computer. I can live with it, but it is annoying. Does the D Sub message mean I need a new D-Sub cable, or is it a short in the Monitor?

You ask for a Westinghouse 22" Monitor Model Number. It is Model LCM-22w2, from the Monitor's back. Anything more?

Firstly check all the connecting cables, remove and reconnect the monitor cables securely to the PC.

The "D-Sub" word is indicatind that the monitor is connected through the D-Sub input. If this On-screen display(OSD) appears for a long time, you can reduce the duration of OSD by opening Menu, then scroll down to Miscellaneous Menu, then select OSD Time-out, and set the duration according to your preferrence.

Also, regarding the white screen, it seems the monitor power supply is faulty and needs to be serviced or your monitor needs to be replaced. You can try and reset the monitor to factory settings by selecting Reset in the Miscellaneous menu.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks

    Hi LeGrande,

Thanks for the feedback and apologies for the delayed response.

To enter the MENU option, press and hold the button number 5 shown in the image and follow the instructions in the attached images below:

When the Menu opens, scroll down to Miscellaneous Menu option, to change the duration of the OSD menu. Also you can Activate the Auto Setting and Reset to Factory settings as shown in the images below:

    Thanks you once again,

My westinghouse monitor won't align on the screen. i have tried auto adjust already and it is still missaligned.

Ok, with the Auto adjust, but have you actually tried the buttons that actually manually adjust the screen, size, placement, width, height etc, This will allow you complete control over all aspects of your monitor. You usually select, menu, then step through with one button, and change up, down, side to side, with the left & right buttons.

Get rid of volume bar in middle of screen

I had this same problem a while ago. It was because the top "touch" button on the side was being triggered at a rapid rate. I took mine back to the retailer because it was within the Westinghouse 1 yr warranty. After getting a replacement display (same Westinghouse 22 in), I have had to take it apart because of a bad video processing board. In doing so I have seen that the side buttons are very easy to get to and fiddle with. If you are out of your warranty period, perhaps try taking off the case of the display and fiddling with the button board and connections

Buttons no longer work--power and OSD menu buttons don't work

I had the same problem. In frustration after trying everything else as I couldn't shut the monitor off, I shut the computer down, unplugged the power to all, and left it until this morning (12 hours). Now it works, so it must reset itself. I am waiting for feedback from their support as well but imagine they will tell me the same, good luck.

Monitor shuts off after inactivity

Hi maggieis,

I wouldn't worry about your monitor powering off after 30 min. It's just responding to the power management settings that are configured from within Windows.

These settings can be changed so that your monitor always stays on (if you want) but the current setting is set to help save energy by turning off the monitor when no one is using the computer.

So, no worries...that's just normal Windows behavior.

Hope that helps,

Westinghouse LCM-19W4

I had the same problem with my two LCM-19W4 monitors. Both failed within two months of each other. Radio Shack stocks 220uF 35V capacitors that work fine for this. You have to pay $1.49 ea though.
