Question about ViewSonic Tablets & eReaders

3 Answers

I just got a Airsync V210x. Its used and when I turned it on it loads the IE and requires a password to exit. I was hoping to find a way to reset the whole thing. Or some more information that what Viewsonic provides. Thanks.

The 35 Page PDF from ViewSonic will not explain anything. The two tech reps I talked to from ViewSonic never even heard of this product and took them even longer than me to pull up the PDF. The Hard Reset and Soft Reset do not Delete anything, but just resets the Sylus back to starting up, not removing password and unwanted programs. I guess I will just have to dig up who owned this stylus before me and see if they still remember the device to get this password off.

I can still access anything on the Stylus, but when I close everything down I have IE up and can not view the Desktop to change networks or anything.

Any help would be good, even if you have some type of restore I could do through the USB. I don't care for any programs on this thing. I will worry about that when I finially get it working enough so I can connect to my computer and servers.

Please read the post before replying. The Flashing of the ROM does not work. HARD Reset and Soft reset work on restarting the machine, but the ROM was written secifically for the company who had these before. If you remove Citrix and Kiosk IE and do the Flash ROM reset, it reloads the two programs back on.

After hours of playing around with this thing I found a place the password was kept. It was something called Viewsonic Kiosk IE. Now I am out to the problem of getting it to remote connect. Connects the network just fine under WEP, then tried to ad-hoc it and that works too, but can't get the remote connect to take my pc.

Error message:

The connection was ended because of a network error. Please try connecting to the remote computer again.

I have Internet access now to the internet, but I still can not remote into my PC.

I think that would become another issue; possible with router, but I have not seen any type of setting that controls this. I can set up the PC and Laptop to Remote, but not with the v210. It's a pain if you have one of these, but by the time I am done, I know there will be at least quite a few looking for every detail on the same information. I just wish I had more of these now. Especially when I paid 20 bucks total, and it came looking perfect condition, just the original box had wear and tear. I almost said screw it and tore inside to see, when I stumbled across what KIE stood for.

Any suggestions or knowing of documentation on Windows CE 4.2 would help. I plan to just get a full tablet PC, but can't afford it, so I thought this was interesting to replace it for the moment. I can still draw on this as my screen instead of the horrible drawing tablets I have seen for 20 bucks. Doubt I will be playing games on this though, unless its a web based. Don't know if this thread will stay open, so sharpear@ymail.com if you have or need more information. I will still be playing with this even though it really is a pain. Other Problems also help, to recreate and learn CE farther than taking passwords and managing my remote connections.

You should be able to flash reset the user area - At least this is how it is done on the ViewSonic airsync v210. This resets the Permanent Storage and registry to initial settings.

Hold in the Reset, hold and keep holding in Keyboard button and release Reset Button when erasing flash starts.
This will take a minute or two. After it is finished - should boot and have you recalibrate the screen.

Thanks
