This is Netgear Support,http://kb.netgear.com/app/home Under the -> Product Support and Downloads<- heading in the middle of the page, type ->WPN824, in the box where it states, Enter model number. (Not trying to insult your intelligence. Take your mouse cursor, put it in the box, Left-click once, then type WPN824) On the next page select what Version of WPN824 router you have. EXT, or Version 1, or Version 2, or Version 3. Click right on the version. Now, on the next page click on the -> Downloads tab. The firmware is shown in blue. Just click on it, then follow the instructions on the next page.

There is a MANUEL way to get the router working. Find somebody that would know the login IP Address of the router (could be 192.168.1.1) and then you can set it up from within your Internet browser. Quite a tricky router to set up though but it can be done

Netgear rangemax wpn824 incorrecty or won't detect wireless conn.

Check ISP configuration to match Router settings with your supplier requirements.
Your issue seems related with wrong settings on Router WAN configuration.
Check if DHCP is required on your router or if it has tio be configured as a BRIDGE.
Your ISP should be ready to support you. (Or Netgear)

Try placing the router higher up, for example on top of a bookshelf. You may need to move the router closer to the center of your house.

Neatgear wireless router wpn824 v2

Windows, if that's what you're using, may be connecting to a different router than yours. Verify that you're connecting to your access point.

Also, make sure there is a good connection between the router and your cable or dsl modem.

Finally, you can try connecting your computer to the router using an ethernet cable. That will at least let you verify that the computer and router work together, and you can configure the router and so forth. If connecting with a wire succeeds, that narrows the problem down to the wireless network connection.

Here's the manual. Troubleshooting is near the end, but it doesn't look like your specific problem is listed...

My Mac and my WPN824

All wireless routers do not accept unencrypted communications. Have the Macs in either/both cases either been moved from an environment requiring encryption to one not requiring encryption or requiring encryption with a different key. This also occurs when moving from a non-encrypted environment to an encrypted environment. Another possibility is that the wireless router in the new location does not broadcast it's SSID (name) and requires knowledge and entry of its name for access generally along with an encryption key. The person that setup the wireless router should be able to answer these questions and assist with the setup of the Mac's wireless adapter. Research would need to be made and I do not have a current Mac to test with to walk through the current process however this should provide the information for a knowledgeable Mac person to interface with person that configured the router or has the router configuration information to complete the changes necessary to allow access. If a short term solution is required and wired connections are possible (wired ethernet ports exist on both the router and the computer) using a wired connection to the router can be utilized to avoid the whole wireless configuration issue.
