GF Salad Bowl Finish

Create a beautiful and safe finish on wooden bowls, cups, spoons, countertops and butcher blocks or any wood surface that contacts food. Easy to apply (just wipe on with a soft clean cloth) it achieves the sheen and durability of a varnish. Dried film is non-toxic for food contact 72 hours after drying. Additional coats can be re-applied at any time if maintenance of item becomes necessary
On Line store: generalfinishes.com
I don't know about paints, but there are stains, such as raw linseed oil, that work just fine for food-safe surfaces.
suggest you do some exploring; plug in'food-safe stains "in your search engine.
Hope this helps...

Can i paint my garage doors?

Clopay's steel garage doors can be painted with any high quality exterior latex paint. Wood garage doors must be painted/stained on all sides prior to installation. Most models are available factory primed. Clopay recommends wood garage doors be re-painted every 1 to 2 years (more frequent refinishing may be required in high moisture areas).

How to stain fiberglass entry door?

You cannot use regular stain on a Fiberglass door. Stain is made to soak into wood. It cannot soak into Fiberglass. It will peel right off in several months depending on the weather. A solid stain may would work for a while, but it will not hold up as well. Whereas stain is made to soak into wood, paint is made to sit on top of surfaces. There are some nice paints that look like stained wood if that is the effect you are looking for. But if you want the new finish to last on your door, use paint. Make sure you clean the door thoroughly with a degreaser, prep solvent or paint thinner

Should I coat my deck by hand or can I use on of these air paint things that some people use to paint houses?

You should coat your deck using a roller or a paitbrush I haven't seen anyone using an air brush. This could be because it can be hard to get into all the nooks and crannies in the wood using an air brush.

My pool deck was coated with Behr solid deck stain and now there are several exposed cement areas where the paint has chipped Can can I use this product to cover the whole surface area before repainting ?...

I'm not sure if your wording is incorrect or if you've revealed the problem. Usually the difference between paint and stain is paint is a topical product, stain penetrates the surface. If you've stained your concrete, it should be wearing off or fading, not chipping. If this is the case, the profile on your concrete isn't correct. That could mean the concrete was sealed before you stained it or there was something that wasn't properly cleaned before the coating was put on. The most common solution to concrete adhesion issues where I live/work is to etch the concrete prior to re-sealing it. On the contrary, if the stain is adhering everywhere except in one spot, it would indicate there was an issue only there (perhaps from a grill, pool chemicals,etc.). I'd clean the area well, perhaps pressure washing the entire area to make sure everything is properly adhering and re-coat it. Be sure not to stain or seal over loose 'paint'. It'll flake again if you do.

Where do I find high temp paint to use on a gas stove?

Auto parts stores have manifold and engine paints for high temp use, or the hardware store has barbecue and wood stove paints, usually black. Your stove may have been enameled (Melted glass powder process, like ovens, old sinks and bathtubs).

I painted a picnic bench with latex, and it peeled. I scraped off some of it, and much is left on. Is oil base paint over this a good solution?

Hi there. Try to remove as much of the old paint as possible. You should sand down the wood and paint a little bit to rough up the wood and only then paint over it. Paint sticks much better to roughed up wood. Oil based paint would also be a better solution. The best solution is to use stain, if that's an option. Alex

I am looking at buying a Wagner Max HLVP sprayer. The jobs are staining a modest stretch of fencng and a larger staining project of an overhead pagoda-type structure. Is this a good choice or would you...

I was a painting contractor for last 10 years of my work career.

If you are using HVLC cup gun, you will have to select correct tip,
You will need to thin the latex 50-50 with water, and keep paint strained to keep out all clogging.
If the tip is not reversible, then expect disassemble each time clog happens.
And you will be continually re-filling the cup.
And then if the surface is rough, the spray won't flow into the holes.
You have a mess coming your way.

Painting a fence: A roller is the only way to paint/stain rough surface.
Buy big hairy 1" roller cover from Sherwin Williams. Don't get the cheapo 1/4" thick roller cover because it doesn't hold any paint. The big roller holds a big volume of paint.

Now if fence is rough, like cedar, you need to thin the stain.
About 1.5 gallon water per 5 of stain ... and suddenly you have 6-1/2 gallons of stain which means you bought too many gallons of stain.
So don't overbuy the stain. And pick up 2 plastic bucket for mixing.
Empty gallon of stain into mixing bucket > put water into empty gallon > put lid on gallon and shake up > pour water into mixing bucket with stain > to mix: pour mixing bucket of stain back and forth between other mixing bucket until stain is mixed. Do this work on the grass where it won't run out onto concrete surface.

Put roller and frame on a wood pole that you took off the push broom. Now roll that stain onto every surface the roller can touch. Think of it like picking up quarters. If it was money, could you get the roller on that spot >> the answer is yes. Don't try to smooth it out and make pretty. Throw the stain on any way the roller can turn. Customers used to call that 'slapping it on' and I used to say, 'that's how it works, lady.'

Use a piece of masonite at the bottom. If you get stain on anything, wash it off immediately and use a wire brush on concrete surface or towel on smooth surface.

Wait for a day, because stain looks 100% better next day. And then go back with a brush and hit the spots you couldn't get with the roller. It will be faster and cheaper and fewer headaches than trying to spray latex stain with a HVLP cup gun.

To clean the roller: Leave it on the roller frame and wood stick. Turn on water hose and get the roller spinning until it's clean. Do this away from everything you don't want stain on.

Popcorn stain in Microwave

Uhhhmmm, paint? Inside a microwave? YUCK.... that would make food taste like paint.

The yellow stain from microwave able popcorn is most likely a permanant issue. I have heard of the vinegar water, bleach etc working, but never had it work for me.

I don't recommend you painting the inside of a microwave. Some paint is flammable. Almost all paints are toxic.
