Featherlight plus weedeater, where does the second gas tube go?

There are two tubes in gas tank, can't figure out where second one goes. Won't run well, it has to have choke off, and then it doesn't have enough power to cut anything.

  • amanda portwood Jul 23, 2009

It only runs when choke is fully closed.

On a two-stroke engine, the second line is a pressure line.. it is actually running back to the tank and helps pressurize the tank to feed on the other line...there should be a second hole in the tank .

Try removing the air filter and squirting some carb cleaner in the carb( you'll know where it is by turning the choke on and off, you'll see the butterfly valve move) Also try cleaning the air filter, sounds like it's being starved for air.

  • Anonymous Jul 24, 2009

Have you tried the carb cleaner, because if the choke has to fully closed (on) then it's starved for fuel. You have something plugged or gummed up. Or possibly a fuel line with a leak and not getting enough fuel to the engine. I don't know how handy you are but this could be quite complicated to fix. If you feel comfortable with taking a carb apart that has a zillion tiny parts and springs that can go flying to neverland when you open it up, then I could assist you further. If not then I would probably take it to the shop. ( I will also need to know more about the make and model and size of the motor.

The steel FS 250 weedeater replacement primer bulb has two hose connections. One is longer than the other. To which hose should each of these be hooked up?

The shorter tube goes to the inlet siphon side of the purge bulb and connects to the top carburetor fuel port. The longer tube goes from purge bulb outlet to the tank.

To test it is assembled correctly and operational, leave the longer tube disconnected at the tank and press the bulb repeatedly. Fuel should draw from the tank, through the carb, into bulb, and expelled out the longer tube (fuel return).

It's best to replace fuel filter and leave the longer return line disconnected until after above test.

Comment below for further assistance.

Weedeater won't start

inside the carb there is a small screen. it is probably dirty. also the diaphragm may be stiff. go ahead and rebuild it. the kits are cheap and it should run like a new one. there are videos on you tube that show how to do this.

I have a stihl f545 weedeater that will run on choke but goes dead when you switch it to run

Hi there,
When was the last time you checked your fuel filter in the gas tank. It's on the end of a flexible tube and you can get it out with a piece of stiff wire.Bend a hook in one end file the sharp end of hook and snag the tube out and replace with a new filter.Might as well clean the gas tank out while your at it.First use a rag to clean around the gas cap ,open cap and drain gas back into your gas can.Next get a pack of BB's and pore them in the tank(count them)and close the cap.Shake the saw to knock any crape loose.Empty the BB's out and count them.Add some cleaner for chainsaw gas tanks which is available at hardware stores and auto parts store add new fuel.Thank You for choosing FixYa.com

Poulan/Weedeater BV1650 gas trimmer: Will not start/run without pouring gas into carb. Took filter/pickup out of tank. Seems to blow through okay but plan to replace. Pulled both fuel lines (one for...

The filter sounds like the weighted type. If so, it keeps the pickup line on the bottom. The piece that keeps the tube in the tank can just be a piece of a little larger tube pressed over the pickup tube. Yoi will have to thread new tubing in and pull it out the fill hole. Place the keeper on the tube and press the filter into the pickup tube. Once you are ready, pull the pickup tube inti the tank until the keeper touches the tank side. Hook up to the primer and try it. Good luck...Lee

Replace fuel lines WeedEater FL 1500 Blower

On the FL1500:
  • The Smaller line goes on the Lower inlet tube on the carborater the other end goes to the gas filter inside the gas tank.
  • The Larger line goes on the upper outlet tube on the carborater the other end goes to a fitting that holds this tube from coming out on the gas tank .This tube is only for Air, it helps fill the primer bulb when pushed.
I hope this helps.
Mechs correct me if I have made a mistake.

I have a weedeater series 300 lawnmower. When I prime it, it will run for about 5 seconds and then stops. It burns off the gas from priming it and then cuts off. If I do this about 20-30 times then it will...

thats a common problem with those briggs motors. There is a plastic tube that goes from the back of the carb to the other side of the motor. There are two small bolts that hold the tube down opposite the carb end of the tube. They loosen over time allowing to much air to get in. Also the tube cracks but not to often. If that doesn't help you need a kit that comes with a gasket and a diaphram. you may need that because the tube warps were it meets the carb. That should fix it.
